In the Mix: DJ Stilo Mancia Weaves Sound, Story & Soul

Written & Published by Angie LaGuardia Interview conducted by Imani Ogden THE ESSENCE OF STILO MANCIA For DJ Stilo Mancia, Miami Music Week is more than a festival — it’s home. A rhythm that beats in sync with his soul. With nearly a decade of performances under his belt, Stilo returns year after year for the energy, the community, and the deep-rooted connections that shape the magic of MMW. “It’s the people who keep me coming back,” he shares. “Reuniting with old friends and meeting others who share the same love for music — that’s what makes it so special.” Born from admiration for legendary names like Mark Knight, Oscar G, and Chus, Stilo’s sound is a mosaic of inspiration and authenticity. Whether performing for intimate crowds or packed stages, he delivers sets that are intentional, uplifting, and deeply aligned with good vibes. “Music is movement. It’s joy. It’s how I connect with people—even if we don’t speak the same language, the rhythm always finds a way.” — DJ Stilo Mancia CRAFTING THE VIBE For DJ Stilo Mancia, it’s never just about playing tracks — it’s about sculpting a feeling. With a background that blends Afro-Latin rhythms, soulful beats, and underground house, Stilo crafts sets that are emotionally charged and technically sound. “I want my music to feel like a journey,” he says. “Something that lifts you up, holds you in the moment, and lets you let go.” From crate-digging rare edits to layering textures that hit deep, his style is both precise and personal — a reflection of his roots, his culture, and his connection to the crowd. His creative process is intuitive, guided by energy and emotion. Whether it’s an intimate set or a festival crowd, Stilo focuses on flow — making sure every transition feels alive and every drop tells a story. ROOTED IN COMMUNITY, DRIVEN BY PURPOSE For DJ Stilo Mancia, music is more than performance — it’s a form of service. Whether spinning at a packed venue or curating a vibe for a small circle, he sees every moment as a chance to connect, uplift, and energize others. “My purpose is to help people feel alive, to remember who they are,” he says. “If I can help someone shift their mood or mindset through music, even just for one night — that’s everything.” Stilo’s sets often reflect the pulse of Miami — Latin-rooted, Afro-inspired, and full of soul — but it’s his commitment to healing and high vibrations that sets him apart. He’s intentional with every transition, using sound as a tool for connection, joy, and remembrance. Through music, Stilo channels tradition, energy, and authenticity — building bridges between the past and present, the crowd and the DJ, the beat and the soul. “Music is a mirror. It reflects how we feel, who we are, and where we’re going.” You’re reading the full journey of DJ Stilo Mancia — in conversation with Imani Ogden — exclusively on miamishoot.com. This article marks the final chapter in our special editorial spotlight celebrating Miami’s most inspiring DJ voices from Miami Music Week.

In the Mix: DJ Mario Clavasquin Talks Growth, Sound & Spirit

Written & Published by Angie LaGuardia Interview conducted by Imani Ogden DJ Mario Clavasquin has become a heartbeat of Miami’s Latin electronic scene—where every set is a celebration and every beat carries soul. A proud Venezuelan native with deep roots in Doral and Wynwood, Mario brings an unmistakable blend of Afro-Latin house and cultural authenticity to Miami Music Week. His presence behind the decks isn’t just electrifying—it’s intentional. With nearly a decade in the game, Mario spins to inspire, to connect, and to amplify the pulse of his people. “Music is movement. It’s joy. It’s how I connect with people—even if we don’t speak the same language, the rhythm always finds a way.” — DJ Mario Clavasquin GROWTH & CREATIVE PROCESS For DJ Mario Clavasquin, the journey has been one of intentional evolution. “I used to think it was all about playing what people wanted to hear,” he shares, “but over time, I realized the power of curating an experience.” Mario now spends countless hours digging through tracks, producing his own music, and blending Latin percussion with deep house and electronic textures. “Every time I play, I want it to feel like a spiritual experience — like you’re not just dancing, you’re feeling something.” His process is guided by both discipline and heart — a dedication to the craft that’s as technical as it is emotional. CONNECTION TO COMMUNITY & CULTURE For Mario, music has never existed in a vacuum — it’s always been about people. He speaks with passion about the responsibility DJs carry: “We set the tone, the energy. It’s more than a playlist — it’s a conversation with the crowd.” Raised between Venezuela and Miami, Mario’s sets are layered with cultural meaning. “In Miami, you feel this pulse — this mix of sounds, languages, and roots — and I try to bring that into every show,” he explains. Whether he’s spinning for packed nightclubs or local charity events, Mario remains deeply grounded in his community. For him, every performance is an offering — a chance to give back, uplift, and celebrate Miami’s multicultural spirit. THE HEARTBEAT OF MIAMI “Miami will always be home base,” Mario says. “It’s where I learned, where I grew, and where I keep finding new reasons to love the craft.” As Miami Music Week continues to evolve, so does Mario — blending the traditions of his past with the innovations of today. His story isn’t just about sound, it’s about spirit: staying rooted, staying humble, and letting the music speak for itself. For those watching Mario from the dance floor, it’s clear — this is more than a set. It’s a celebration of identity, rhythm, and the power of bringing people together through music. “Music is how we connect, how we move, and how we remember.” Words by Angie LaGuardia  |  Interview conducted by Imani Ogden This feature is part of our Miami Music Week series, spotlighting the artists shaping the rhythm and legacy of the city’s ever-evolving sound. 🎧 Listen to his latest mixes on @djmarioclavasquin on Spotify.

In the Mix: DJ Rob Cappadonna Talks Sound, Energy & MMW Legacy

Written & Published by Angie LaGuardia Interview conducted by Imani Ogden DJ Rob Cappadonna’s connection to Miami Music Week runs deep. A fan-turned-fixture, he’s been lighting up stages since 2020. “I’ve been performing at Miami Music Week since 2020, so this marks my fifth year,” says Rob. “What keeps me coming back is the energy—there’s truly nothing like it. MMW brings together some of the best artists and most passionate music lovers from all over the world.” STAYING ENERGIZED DURING MMW Even in the heart of the mayhem, Rob knows how to slow things down. Between back-to-back sets and nonstop energy, he’s learned the importance of pressing pause, fueling right, and finding small moments of stillness in the city that never stops. “Hydration, good food, and knowing when to recharge. It’s tempting to go all out 24/7, but I’ve learned that pacing yourself is key. I make sure to stay active, eat well, and take small moments to reset between gigs. Also, Miami’s energy alone keeps you going—it’s hard not to feel hyped when you’re in the middle of it all.” — Rob Cappadonna CRAFTING A SET THAT STANDS OUT Behind every unforgettable performance is careful preparation—but also, a little bit of magic.“Preparation starts weeks, even months in advance,” Rob says. “I test new tracks, rework edits, and make sure I have a solid mix of unreleased material, classics, and surprises. But I also leave room for spontaneity—reading the crowd is key.” SIGNATURE SOUND & INSPIRATION With influences ranging from Roger Sanchez to Hugel and Crusy, Rob’s sound blends groove with innovation.“I like to craft sets that you can only experience in that moment—exclusive edits, unexpected drops, and an energy that builds with the crowd,” he explains. “Miami has a special vibe, and I always try to reflect that in my sound.” MIAMI MOMENTS: THE CITY THAT KEEPS ON GIVING “Miami has been good to me,” Rob says with sincerity. “It’s a city that embraces artistry. You can be who you are here—loud, creative, different. The people, the vibe, the energy… it’s unmatched.” Whether he’s playing a rooftop at sunset, a packed club in Brickell, or a beachside soirée, DJ Rob Cappadonna brings authenticity, heart, and undeniable rhythm. And if you ask him what keeps him going? “The music,” he says simply. “Always the music.” Follow DJ Rob Cappadonna on Instagram @rob_cappadonna for a front-row seat to his latest gigs and sonic adventures. BIRTHDAY’S THIS WEEK: Joanna Krupa Turns 40 on April 23rd ??

By Nadja Atwal Joanna Krupa has graced over 300 magazine covers over the years worldwide – and many titles: “most beautiful supermodel of the world”, “sexiest swimsuit model”, even “sexiest woman” Parallel to modeling acting and TV hosting she has always dedicated plenty of time and action to help the weakest link in society – animals. As a result, PETA featured her in countless campaigns : from anti-fur to anti-zoo and gave her several awards. Blessed with beauty and fame Krupa has always stayed humble and never believed the world owed her anything for being pretty. She is a hard worker and has her priorities straight: Family comes first. After her first marriage failed she felt luck that she found new loved with Hollywood film and TV producer Douglas Nunes. Now happily married again and eager to start her own family, Krupa does not fear but welcomes the big 40 with open arms. And why shouldn’t she ,since also her career is busier than ever. Just 2018 BILD newspaper named her one of the top Instagram stars, she has been successfully hosting Poland’s Next Top Model for years, has her own lingerie line Esotique, shoots movies and is praised by the media as a trendsetter and fashion icon. She also has successfully been running her own animal charity Angels For Animals that rescues pets and places them with new owners.  The beautiful blonde spoke exclusively with us about beauty, fitness and what really matters to her on life. Joanna, you are living proof that 40 is the new 25 (and without a facelift), but please don’t tell us it’s just drinking water that makes you look this fantastic…                Thank you thats very sweet and a huge compliment  …..I have always taken care of my skin since I was in High School, as my mom always told me how important it is to keep your skin moisturized which will help in slowing down the aging process…..As the years went by I stuck to that and growing up I didn’t spend a lot of money on face creams as I think  most of them of them are overrated and just a marketing tool. There are a few products I value and therefor put my name behind in. On the Skincare front I really like Elphia Beauty, since it’s innovative, effective and cruelty free. Every skin is different, but mine is more on the dry side – so the rich serum is perfect for me and camomile ingredient calms my skin down after days full of travel and TV make up. I also use the Elphia exfoliating gel to get rid of any makeup build up and dead skin and after that  I apply the serum to give me extra moisturizing and anti-aging nutrients . Oh and I never go to bed without putting Lucas Papaw ointment on which feels like Vaseline ( I used Vaseline most of my life under the eyes until I learned they test on animals) and I have used it for years to prevent any creases during sleep and I also never sleep with my face in the pillow as it will cause wrinkles ..Instead I position my pillow so my head is resting on it not my face….As a general take :I believe you have to care for your skin from an early age on though and also teach your children to take care of it and why its important – just like my mother did.You do love the beach, but you are not the ‘bake in the sun type’ , so how do you manage?  I love going to the beach indeed,  but I always cover my face by wearing a hat and sunglasses and tons of sunscreen..I spray tan my body so that way I don’t scare people away with my Casper the ghost natural skin color, but Its worth it because it definitely helps with the aging process. They say Vitamin D – which sun provides – is good for you and I agree, but there is no reason to bake in the sun for hours and not use sun protection as those people will regret it a few years later and wIll be looking for the magic potion that just doesn’t exist to undo all that skin damage….   We love about you that you are a woman  who likes to enjoy life and is not a gym rat necessarily. What are  is your fitness and well-being advice?  I enjoy going to the gym a couple to a few times a week and love hiking those beautiful hills in LA and I have do those spinning classes with friends occasionally . So I am active to keep my metabolism going, but I am definitely not obsessed with fitness. It has never been my goal nor my career to look like a  fitness chick. I always loved to have a feminine body over the “ all lean and muscles” type and that is what my career was all about.I can’t imagine my life going to the gym everyday for hours and doing all these crazy protein shakes etc .I love to live life and enjoy every moment cause you never know when it will end. Why worry about the things you cant change is my motto….Be the best you can be without killing yourself…maintain a healthy diet, but if you feel like having that piece of chocolate go for it…I never tell myself no..I just have learned over the years how to adjust my calories. If  I am craving some sweets and I decide to have some then I would eat less of a lunch or a dinner to balance out my daily calorie intake…Balance and moderation is key, so you also have to have discipline just like with anything in life.  Some people have breakfast, some skip it, but what is your preferred first meal of the day?  It all depends..sometimes I wake up and I am not hungry

One on One with Y100’s DJ Frankie P

Whether you are relaxing by the pool, laying on the beach or in dreaded bumper to bumper traffic on the Palmetto Expressway, you can count Y100’s DJ Frankie P to keep you entertained with good music and lots of laughs.  MSM recently caught up with DJ Frankie P to bring you insights on one of Miami’s most loved DJ’s. What inspired you to pursue a career in radio? I actually never intended to be on the radio I sort of just fell into it! A few weeks after graduating high school a friend of mine got me a job on a local radio station here in Miami (97.3 The Coast) working on the promotions team. I remember him saying, “this job is so easy! We drive around Miami, give away free stuff, and talk to people and you’re great with people!” Shortly after joining the promo team I started asking to shadow my boss who was the midday guy on the station and the rest is history. I fell in love, even though I was nervous to talk on a mic, I dedicated all my free time to practicing and learning how to be a personality. Early on I was inspired to be on air because of the art form that was being a personality. Now though I’m inspired by the love of our listeners. The moment someone says you put a smile on their face with something you said on air you become addicted to wanting to make people happy even if it’s just for a few seconds at a time.  How long have you been in radio and how long with Y100? In the industry, it’s been about 8 years but I’ve had my own night show now for 4 years! 2 of those at my dream job here at Y100 (this is where Drake’s Started From the Bottom starts playing).  Outside of radio any news that you should make your listeners and followers aware of?  Well I’m looking to get more involved with local charities. In previous years I always jumped at any opportunity to help out charities that helped those with breast cancer since my mom had it but I’m ready to expand and do more for my community. I also really want to get involved with the Wounded Warrior Project. Over the last year I kept having these amazing conversations with veterans and realized that so many haven’t been able to receive the adequate help they need so that’s definitely my next mission. When it comes to paying bills though I’m always going to be DJing at nightclubs and special events throughout South Florida! Finally, I’m really excited to have just started endorsing Body Armor Super Drink! What are some of your goals for the new year? Not get fired? Haha! No but seriously my goal every year is keep entertaining all of South Florida every evening and providing an escape from the craziness of the world (or just the Palmetto) even if it’s just for a few mins with good music and some laughs.  Any pending possible gigs outside of radio? Of course! While Y100 is where you can find me in the evenings Monday through Saturday I’m always bouncing around on weekends DJing at different clubs and private parties! Excited to say that I will be DJing at Hyde Miami at their Pool Party on February 3rd and at E11EVEN April 23rd. Other possible gigs are still in the works. Stay tuned for what’s to come. Any upcoming events coming up with Y100? Well we just had one of our biggest events before the new year, our Y 100 Jingle Ball presented by Capital One at the BB&T Center! It’s always exciting to see artists like Shawn Mendes, Khalid, and Marshmello but it’s even more exciting to see the looks on our listeners faces before, during, and after the show! Next big show will be probably be Mackapoolooza which we do every summer but in between that time we always invite listeners to our Southwest Sound Stage inside iHeart building whenever artist stop by to do small exclusive performances and meet and greats. Plus you pretty much always find me at every concert hooking it up with ticket upgrades before the show if you’re willing to embarrass yourself publicly for them. When your not in the studio, where in South Florida do you enjoy spending time? Even though I know absolutely nothing about sports I love going to Heat & Dolphins games! I mean let’s be honest most of are us are guilty of spending more time partying and socializing at games than we do actually watching (except for the die hard fans, props to you guys!) Aside from that I bounce around South Florida so much between appearances with Y100 and my DJ gigs that I really love spending time in my new apartment complex, Altis Pembroke Gardens. It’s like living at the FontaineBleau but in the suburbs without all the South Beach traffic (lol) Where can your listeners/fans follow you on social media and where can people reach out to book you? I’m on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. People can follow me @itsFrankieP on all networks. For any bookings/features/etc. you can contact my management company Live Media Inc. at Davidlivemediainc@gmail.com.

Interview: Disney Junior’s Genevieve Goings

Interviewed by Destinee Hughes / Photo’s by Jacory Gums Genevieve Goings, the host of Disney Junior’s popular music video show “Choo Choo Soul,” knows exactly how to woo an all-age audience. Whether she’s using her charismatic personality to charm the children, writing music for Los Angeles’s top R&B and pop artist, or creating unique bow-ties and suspenders, Goings always exceed expectations in the most harmonious of ways. With a musical lineage, Goings had a natural inclination for singing from an early start. She began her career in San Francisco, focusing mainly on hip-hop and R&B, singing hooks for local artist. She eventually ventured off into recording voice-overs for popular toy companies such as Hello Kitty, Leapfrog, and many more. In April 2010, she and her skilled team created “The Happy Hearts Club,” a fitness show for kids exposing them to futuristic dance moves to help keep them engaged in physical movement. Goings has also worked with Fisher-Price on its “Little People” toy line. While she was initially approached to write a new theme song for the brand, her innovative ideas and dedication allowed her to write six additional songs and even provide the voice for the teacher, Miss Hugg, in the animated web-series. It’s safe to say that being the host for “Choo Choo Soul” for over a decade has certainly opened many doors for children’s market opportunities for Goings. Genevieve currently has her hand in numerous pots, including writing phonics curriculum’s for schools in China. Her latest venture is absolutely one worth looking forward to- an original line of bow-ties, ties, and suspenders for kids. If one thing is certain it’s clear that Genevieve is undeniably talented, and with fitting last name, she knows exactly where her future is going. Destiny Hughes: When did you realize that you wanted to be involved in the entertainment industry? Genevieve Goings: I have always had an interest in the Entertainment Business, and from a very young age I loved singing and performing. I didn’t, however, think that I could ACTUALLY do it as my profession until I finished high school and began recording in studios. Watching a song start as an idea and take on its own life; being pressed into CD’s, moving to radio and being produced into music videos, live shows, and more, I was hooked! DH: How do you balance working on so many projects at once? GG: I am still learning that perfect balance! I try to dedicate certain days to certain things, and mornings are always for emails and social media. I write all of my to-do’s on my calendar and just schedule my focus throughout the day. I add time for creative and goal-oriented items just as if they were an appointment. DH:  What interests you the most in children’s television shows? GG: I just love the fact that there is no wrong or right way to do it. Random silliness can totally work in the kids space. Children are so open, honest and willing to be entertained. It is truly the best job ever! DH: What has been the most satisfying part about your job? GG: I truly get to touch people’s lives with what I do. I have been on television regularly for over 10 years now, and those little babies who used to watch me are now grown and onto other things, utilizing those fundamentals that they learned from my songs! I love to hear from parents about how so many special memories were created with their families to my music. I have heard from parents of non-verbal autistic children saying that their children sing along to my music! It is truly incredible and so much more than me just wanting to be a “star,” this is real-life stuff that means something! DH: How does it feel when people recognize your voice from previous works? GG: Ahh, it’s the best! I feel wonderful if someone recognizes my voice!! That means I am on the right path and creating a brand! DH: Why is it important to you to keep children healthy and active with your “Happy Hearts Club” program? GG: Our habits that we form as children shape our lives and livelihood as we grow up! Childhood obesity, diabetes and more are silent villains that can cause major harm to our youth. I felt that since I have a direct portal to these kids and they know me as someone who the get up and dance with, it was my job to keep that flow going and help them exercise! DH: Tell us about the musical curriculum your writing for schools in China? GG: It is a little-known fact that Disney has created an initiative called “Disney English,” which teaches English as a second language in China and beyond. They have over 20 schools in China and I have written over 100 lesson songs for them, utilizing their target vocabulary and a bit of “Disney Magic.” I take the words and phrases that they are learning, and create a pop-style song in the theme of whatever Disney character or brand that the lesson exists in. For example, if the class is learning about “Time” in the style of “The Lion King,” I will write a song with African-inspired sounds and beats using the words that they require. It is such an incredible project and exercise for a songwriter! It is also magical to see the finished product, when they pair my song with clips from the classic films! DH: If you weren’t the host for Disney Junior’s Choo Choo Soul, what other career would you have? GG: This has been my focus for so long, I don’t even know how to answer that! But if I wasn’t on screen, I would be on my way to being an executive at Disney. If I wasn’t in the Children’s market at all, I would probably still be in the entertainment business, writing music for other artsts. I probably would have continued with the band that I was in (Legato; neo-soul R&B) and continued in the Video game voice-over industry.
