Around the World in Eighty Works
By Angela Betancourt
An artistic journey around the world begins with just a single step into the Markowicz Fine Art Gallery. On February 12th, the gallery is hosting famed French painter and sculpture Alain Godon for an invitation-only one-man architectural exhibition titled Around the World in Eighty Works.
The exhibition will unveil new sculptures from Godon’s Architectural series which captures the sites and spirit of famous international cities like New York, Paris, and Miami through paintings and sculptures.
The series, which he began in 2006, depicts iconic architectural landmarks from each location with vibrant colors that beautifully blend together and captures the imagination. Each of his bronze sculptures corresponds to an existing painting and pays homage to the landmark’s unique design and structural element.
The opening exhibit event will take place from 6 to 9pm. Invited guests will experience a total of 80 works and immerse themselves in Godon’s BildoReliefos original technique that garnered him worldwide attention when it was introduced in 2009.
The Markowicz Fine Art Gallery is located at 110 NE 40th St in the Design District. The exhibit will be open to the public February 13-28, Monday to Saturday from 10am to 7pm.
