PROJECT NM

By Gisel Habibnejad Oftentimes, there comes a point when you have to make the most important decision of your life–to proceed with your unconventional ambitions or pursue a life in the rat race. PROJECT NM helps local millennial women who crave an unconventional lifestyle and have a love for fashion but don’t know where to begin. As an online platform for female entrepreneurs to encourage others in the same path, PROJECT NM builds you up and provides a space of encouragement as you make your own decisions and take the steps needed to accomplish your goals. Fashion is a centralized point of the brand, where women can find a deeper connection through a more common ground. “It’s pretty amazing what can happen when women support each other,” shares founder and CEO Nicole Gonzalez. When Nicole found herself in the same situation many of us find ourselves in, she suddenly wished there was somewhere she could go to find the answers. And just like, that the first of its kind in Miami was born. “Being an entrepreneur is sometimes a lonely journey. It’s hard to find people who believe in what you believe in and see that there’s more to life than the ordinary,” she recalls. Nicole had the revelation when she joined the 9-to-5 workforces but realized she wasn’t happy and wanted to find her own version of freedom, “I wanted to create my own reality and live out my greatness.” Presently, she enjoys working on a daily basis towards her ultimate goals fueled by endless passion. What’s unique about the brand is Nicole is taking the journey with you. As she continues to develop the company, you’re right there with her completing yours. Daily tips, advice, and words of encouragement can be found on PROJECT NM’s website and Instagram page. The brand launched in November but had already begun creating a buzz in the social media circles through its Instagram account. With posts motivating users to pursue their goals day-by-day, along with merchandise modeled by local and national bloggers who all rave about the brand’s system. T-shirts designed by PROJECT NM are released monthly with the hopes of inspiring and encouraging women as it allows them to carry their motivation with them everywhere they go. Their first shirt displayed the word “entrepreneur” on it and was a big hit. At times, entrepreneurs (especially women) find themselves in a constant struggle with rejection and doors closing. Within this negativity, it can become easy to lose sight of the finish line and even yourself. PROJECT NM supports the balance of a social life and business realm by encouraging strong friendships, supportive relationships, and accomplishing a passionate work life. The personable experience introduces the concept to subscribers with weekly emails allowing readers to get to know Nicole and PROJECT NM. As for PROJECT NM’S future, they are currently in the process of designing other merchandise, which includes home décor and pieces for your creative space. In addition, they are developing a helpful source known as the “little black book” concept where local contacts will be stored for your use and are encouraged to build relationships, free of cost. You’ll never feel stuck and held back from moving forward when you have them right at your fingertips. Down the road, they plan to create local workshops and events to help celebrate, encourage, and connect millennial female entrepreneurs. The company shows potential in creating lifelong friendships and business relationships amongst women with one common goal–to grow and develop their visions. Simply put, PROJECT NM is the motivational speaker you need at a relatable pace and at a reachable distance. It’s that best friend who never stops believing in you, the proud mama who continues to push you, and the coworker who motivates you. You’re not alone in this journey when you have your PROJECT NM tribe. “My mission is to empower the PROJECT NM tribe to realize they CAN and WILL live the lives they’ve always imagined if they believe in their own potential and take that step.” Join the PROJECT NM tribe by following @shop_projectnm on Instagram & join their mailing list by visiting their website www.projectnm.com Click here to view this post in the MSM January/February 2016 digital issue

My Miami: Nicole Williams

Photography by Ace Amir (NYC) Nicole Williams has been busy lately. The gorgeous Canadian-born top model–of both British and Native Indian descent–does not stop to bedazzle us in countless ad campaigns. An instant classic is the current TV commercial with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Amy Poehler for Old Navy. Meanwhile, Nicole shows tons of glamour and personality while starring on the E! hit reality TV show WAGS. The show gives a look inside the world of today’s hottest professional athletes from the perspective of the women inside the exclusive club of spouses and girlfriends. Williams is dating Larry English, a defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The show just got picked up for another season and as always there will be plenty of glamour, laughs and, of course, drama. Being a constant jet setter across the world, Williams has fallen in love with Miami where she has found the perfect combination of relaxation and fun. We were eager to learn a bit more about “her” Miami. When in Miami you can catch me… At Miami’s top annual events like Art Basel, Miami Swim Week, or Ultra, since I love art, fashion, and music. Or you can see me at one of those cool places in Wynwood, like Wood Tavern, where I relax while eating their delicious Bok Choy and sip on their famous white Sangria. The biggest misconception about Miami is… The biggest misconception about Miami is that it has no real culture. Miami has so much more to offer especially when one takes the time to get to know the midtown area and Wynwood! The last restaurant I enjoyed in Miami was… Prime 112! It’s the hottest restaurant in Miami–in my opinion. Not only is the food delicious but also a lot of eye candy, especially for the guys–beautiful girls everywhere! It’s definitely a scene! And I do enjoy some good people watching with my meal. What surprised me most about Miami was… That if you leave South Beach and explore Brickell, Midtown Miami and even North Miami, there is a lot of art and culture. Not to mention better shopping and a completely different crowd than on the beach. It’s a lot less touristy! Aside from the weather, the best reason to return to Miami is… There are several equally good reasons to come back again and again: beautiful scenery of the people, of course Art Basel, and the other events I mentioned before. Just the whole vibe, diversity, and the incredible party life that Miami has to offer. Where else can you have this much fun by night? The first time I became really curious about Miami was… When I signed with my first Miami agency, Elite! They asked me to come and spend a couple months here to get to know the city and to see if it’s a good fit for me, so I did! It was such a pleasant experience that I fell instantly in love with the city. What happens in Miami stays in Miami…and in MSM. Any secret or funny moment you’d like to share about you and this city? What happens in Miami stays in Miami it’s true! I’m afraid I can’t spill the beans on a few Miami adventures. But, I will say I spent one New Year’s Eve there and a certain friend of mine insisted on lying down behind the Fontainebleau sign in front of the hotel to take a nap in the bushes. That’s all I can say about it [laughs]. Use your imagination… Click here to view this post in the MSM January/February 2016 digital issue

DELPOZO Fall Winter 2015 Collection

By Gisel Habibnejad DELPOZO has done it again this season. The fall winter 2015 line is infused with artistic inspiration drawn from Australian artist Rhys Lee and Russian painter Andrey Remnev. Creative Director of the brand Josep Font, whose ultimate goal was to allude to the pre-Raphaelite spirit with a modern twist, spearheaded the successful interpretation through his artistic eye. Although showcased with a trendy twist, DELPOZO stays true to its signature “architectural tailoring.” The collection is made of pieces perfect for day or evening wear. A detail favorite, geometric shapes by metallic lining, is displayed on a black base of a few pieces. A standout hit at NYFW fall, DELPOZO displayed a true stroke of genius. Day of Indulgence: Celebrating Bal Harbour Shops’ 50th Anniversary

By Gisel Habibnejad Photography by World Red Eye Bal Harbour became a fashion staple in Miami when it first opened in 1965. Ever since, Miamians of the last half century have flocked to buy the latest fashion trends and classic pieces—many of which have remained in our wardrobe all these years. Bal Harbour Shops houses 100 designer boutiques and two of the most luxurious department stores: Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. The open-air shopping space was officially recognized by the world in 2012 when it topped “the list as the world’s most productive shopping center, based on sales per square foot, according to data compiled by the International Council of Shopping Centers.” Under the care of the Whitman Family, three generations have remained at the forefront of Miami’s premier and luxury retail space.  In efforts to celebrate its big 50, Bal Harbour Shops gifted Miami’s elite with a Day of Indulgence. Guests enjoyed lunch and a day filled with personalized pampering, such as makeup sessions with GLAMSQUAD; a brow treatment, false lash application or a mini oxygen blast with GEE Beauty; and acupuncture ear bead treatments with Dr. Ronel Corbin. On the fashion spectrum, a garment fitting with Phat Buddha’s designer Alissa Benishai; a handmade hat from Eugenia Kim; and Miu Miu sunglasses fitted by Designer Eyes. Lastly, guests received personalized photos courtesy of Photo&Go, an exclusive bracelet by Chanel Bal Harbour Shops, and a personalized gift bag. Big Bag Theory provided the leather pouch turned tote which served as the gift bag for guests.
