Fashion Project Hosts Successful Four-Day Film Festival at Bal Harbour Shops

By Gisel Habibnejad Photography by World Red Eye Learning about the fashion industry firsthand often involves working hands-on, side-by-side veterans. However, sometimes it’s fun to sit back and watch classic movies as they take you on a virtual tour of fashion throughout the decades. Guests enjoyed this marvelous experience at Fashion Project’s four-day fashion film festival, Wearing Time: Returns, Recalls, Renewals. With films curated by Marketa Uhlirova of Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, who is co-founder of Fashion in Film, and Tim Gunning of the University of Chicago’s Department of Film and Media Studies, the collection features pop culture hits, underground films, and rare footage at the hands of the guests. “In film, not only can dress become a vehicle with which to travel through time, is can also measure time, set its rhythm. It allows us to wear time, even as time wears us out,” shared Marketa Uhlirova and Tom Gunning. For more information on Fashion Project, please visit www.fashionprojectbhs.com

Creatures of the Wind Debuts in Miami

By Gisel Habibnejad Photography by World Red Eye Miamians will be happy to know they can now peruse collections by Creatures of the Wind locally. The brand was born in Chicago and created by runners-up of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters in 2008. In its first season, it was picked up by Barney’s New York. The brand also appeared in Women’s Wear Daily Top Ten New American Fashion Brands to Watch in 2013. Many who shop the collection can see the collections are driven by “concept and narrative; inspiration is drawn from subcultures, mythological themes, and youth culture.” They also like to think outside the box and invite artists and designers of other disciplines to collaborate. Creatures of the Wind can now be purchased locally at Neiman Marcus Merrick Park & The Webster Bal Harbour For more information, please visit www.creaturesofthewind.com

DELPOZO Fall Winter 2015 Collection

By Gisel Habibnejad DELPOZO has done it again this season. The fall winter 2015 line is infused with artistic inspiration drawn from Australian artist Rhys Lee and Russian painter Andrey Remnev. Creative Director of the brand Josep Font, whose ultimate goal was to allude to the pre-Raphaelite spirit with a modern twist, spearheaded the successful interpretation through his artistic eye. Although showcased with a trendy twist, DELPOZO stays true to its signature “architectural tailoring.” The collection is made of pieces perfect for day or evening wear. A detail favorite, geometric shapes by metallic lining, is displayed on a black base of a few pieces. A standout hit at NYFW fall, DELPOZO displayed a true stroke of genius. Spotted Trends: Straight silhouette Shoulder pads Balloon sleeves Peplum shape Felt & velvet fabrics Round toe pumps For more information on DELPOZO’s collection, please visit www.delpozo.com Photography Courtesy of DELPOZO

The exhibition will be running until January 20th, 2016 and is made up of collections curated by Judith Clark. The collection will consist of “fifty years in fashion history from 1965, when Bal Harbour Shops launched, to the present, taking its cue from the unique incorporation of landscape into the design of the retail center.” The finale of FP04: The Anniversary will be taking place over the course of January 28th-31st with a four-day film festival, “50 + 50: A Century of Fashion.” The films were curated by Tom Gunning, professor of art history and cinema at the University of Chicago, and by Marketa Uhlirova, director of Fashion in Film, a research and education project based at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Amra & Elma Take NYFW 2015

Amra and Elma Beganovich are two sisters and digital influencers with a following of 840,000+ on social media. They are the founders of amraandelma.com, their personal lifestyle blog, and clubfashionista.com, an invite-only blogging platform dedicated to high quality content. They are based in Manhattan, and having just wrapped-up with New York Fashion Week, we wanted to get their take the latest in fashion. Here is what they had to say: MSM: Which designer’s fashion show of NYFW 2015 was the most inspiring in your opinion? Amra & Elma: We both loved the Desigual show because it was full of energy, and the styling was out of this world with the headpieces, the hairstyles and the vibrant colors. Aside from amazing designs and energy, we got to see our fashion icon—Iris Apfel, who is 94 years old and still the star of the show! Her quirky and signature style choices never cease to amaze us. MSM: What trends do you predict to be a hit this upcoming season from NYFW 2015? A&E: We think that the chic-minimalism is here to stay, and that adding a glamorous detail is what will give your outfit the “wow” effect. For instance, glasses with colored frames, extra pointy collars or oversized pockets will add a perfect touch to an already neutral outfit. MSM: Which trend can you not wait to wear? A&E: The tapestry like prints that Burberry Prorsum, Simone Rocha, and Mary Katronzou used on their jackets and other patchwork pieces. MSM: Whose street style looks from NYFW 2015 are your favorites? A&E: We loved the play on the 1970s hippie with a touch of glamour, where the girls wore large flare bell-bottoms with chunky high-heels, boho-floppy hats, and large curls. MSM: What new beauty trends made the biggest splash at the shows? A&E: We loved the shimmery eyes balanced with a nude look, where the eyes add a touch of sparkle together with opulent details, like jewelry or other accessories. The catch to this look is to keep it balanced with monotone outfit, where neutral colors like camel, navy, gray or black dominate.

Sunglass Hut: Electrify Your Summer

By Alyse Mier Summer is the season when our hair gets lighter, our skin gets darker and days turn into nights before we know it. This past Sunday, Sunglass Hut’s Electrify Your Summer tour made its stop in Miami. The 13-hour bash featured all of this summer’s best party essentials: live music, refreshing cocktails, local food, a fun game of volleyball, a pop up shop with the best shades from Sunglass Hut and an energy absorbing dance floor. The innovative dance floor would sensor the energy from the crowd’s dancing and light up the crowd-powered sun. The more you danced, the brighter the sun, bringing the much-needed sunshine to the gloomy Miami day. Make sure to stay shaded on the brightest of days and electrify your summer with Sunglass Hut.

The House of Harry Winston is proud to announce the opening of their newest retail salon in the Miami Design District. Across the street from the Hermès boutique, the two-story salon will feature everything you can expect from the legendary brand – luxurious jewelry and one-of-a-kind timepiece collections.  “Miami Design District presents the perfect setting for Harry Winston’s newest salon location,” said Nayla Hayek, CEO of Harry Winston, Inc. “Harry Winston has long celebrated the similarities between fine art and fine jewelry, often exploring various artistic influences as a way to bring its fine jewelry designs to life. With this opening, we look forward to continuing in this rich tradition, as we share the House’s renowned heritage and extraordinary creations with a city that is at the forefront of global creativity and design, and we welcome our new and existing clients from around the world.” The opening event included Craig Robins, CEO and President of Dacra who jumpstarted the Miami Design District, cutting the ribbon for the official celebration of the salon’s launch. With a beautiful and exquisite chandelier hanging from the second floor to welcome you into the salon, the beautiful space is inspired by the iconic Fifth Avenue Flagship and mimics the intimacy of a private estate. Each room, painting and jewelry piece tells its own story reiterating its rightful place in history. In addition to this homely feeling, the furniture displayed around captures the essence of the highly exclusive shopping experience. Another admirable feature is the hand-beaded wall detailing in the bridal room.  Not only does each piece have an exclusive beauty and grace to it, they hold a special story and personal meaning leaving you with a unique attachment to them that you will never be able to let go of.
