FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach Kicks Off Last Night
By Katie Jackson
Last night, fashion and art lovers gathered at Miami’s centennial to kick off FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach, a five day event that provides a platform for up-and-coming and established designers to debut their collections. Classified as a noun, “FUNKSHION” is the fusion of fashion and art. Art Conductor, the creator of the innovative event, hopes FUNKSHION will leave attendees with an enriching and diversifying experience that embraces all of the senses. And, since March 2015 marks the one hundred year anniversary of Miami Beach, FUNKSHION is making sure to bring Miami’s leading designers, artists, and brands.
Liliana Montoya, Original Penguin by Perry Ellis, and Cubavera wowed guests last night by debuting their collections on an 80-foot runway parallel to the ocean. The fun will continue throughout the week, with Miami International University’s annual fashion show tonight, a viewing of the new documentary Dior and I on Wednesday, and many more.
A full schedule of all FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach events can be found at www.funkshion.com. All events are free and open to the public.
