To kick-off the event, The Ultimate Evening with Serena Williams which took place on Friday, December 12th, served as a fabulous opener for what this event is all about – helping those in need. This event included attendees who placed bids on exclusive live and silent auction items benefitting The Serena Williams Fund. The fund “provides assistance to families affected by violent crimes and provides underprivileged youth around the world with the highest quality of education available to them.”
The first annual Serena Williams Ultimate RUN South Beach was held this past Sunday, December 14th on Ocean Drive. More than two thousand runners participated of all ages and abilities to support the Serena Williams Fund. Registrants received a premium Nike tech gender-specific Serena Williams Ultimate Run t-shirt and a custom finisher medal with chip-timed result as a prize for participating. Also in attendance for the run, Venus Williams, joined her sister in post-race celebrations which included singing karaoke jams for their audience. “Today’s run was so enjoyable and the spirit of everyone who came out was so passionate which helped me to build the energy I needed for my first quarter marathon. I’ve never ran that far before, so I had to pace myself, but I was pleased with my finish time. I’d like to thank all the sponsors and everyone who participated in the run to help raise money for underprivileged youth around the world,” said Serena.
