From Desk to Drinks: 2016 Holiday Edition

By: Dana Lyons, General Manager at My Home Fashion Boutique Dashing off for drinks after your 9-to-5? Surviving the holiday party circuit requires some wardrobe strategy, especially when it comes to post-work soirées and the race against time (thanks Miami traffic). Since going home to change isn’t always an option, I’ve put together a list of My Home Fashion Boutique’s favorite style hacks to take the stress out of desk-to-drinks dressing. The last thing you need slowing you down is your wardrobe! Wide leg Pant Silhouette When running from work to your next holiday party you want to feel fabulous without giving up comfort. Having the perfect pair of pants solves half the battle. Wide leg trousers in black or winter white not only look sophisticated for your staff meeting, but also transition beautifully when paired with a silk cami or sequined tank for your night out. Take a cue from B.O.N.D. and try the Siena Wide Leg Trouser, in black or winter white, on for size. Ditch the Office Wear, and Rock the Outerwear                     A fitted blazer is the classiest way to go topless this season. Yes, you read that right! If you’re feeling bold, follow in the fashionable footsteps of Hollywood’s finest like Rosie Hungtinton-Whitely and Rihanna and lose the office undergarments for a sexy, no shirt blazer look. Dare to go bare with a buttoned leather moto jacket by Gimo or fitted crop suede jacket by SEN. Add an ivory beaded necklace by David Aubrey or sandstone bracelets by Cindy Zale, and your outfit is complete. This edgy update to a classic power suit is the ideal way to show off your avant-garde taste effortlessly. Cap Sleeve Meets Color                     To keep your day-to- night transition minimal, go with a silk blouse. The refined elegance of the blouse is a no-brainer for the office, but how about a blouse with the holiday twist of a cap sleeve? The shimmering material and angelic hue make it worthy of a champagne toast. Try on the B.O.N.D. cap sleeve shirt with delicate neckline for a put together and party-approved look. To complement any outfit quick-change, swipe on a vivid red or rich mulberry lipstick, and you’ll be ready for any holiday party photo op! Never Underestimate the Power of Heels               Shoes are the quintessential hero to dress up any day-to- night ensemble. Slip on a pair of striking, textured heels or opt for a stiletto heeled boot. Scarlet, evergreen and metallic tones lend a perfect pop of color to any outfit. Don’t underestimate the power of a pointed flat to make a statement for the holidays as well. My Home Fashion’s Bara column heel by Rudsak or the On – Point flat by Jaggar will have you standing out amongst the crowd. Shop these desk-to-drink looks at My Home Fashion Boutique located in the Biscayne Commons Plaza at 14681 Biscayne Blvd, North Miami, FL 33181!

Aerin Lauder: The Face Behind the Global Beauty, Home Décor, & Fashion Accessories Brand

By Gisel Habibnejad Being the granddaughter of legendary beauty icon Estée Lauder has its benefits no doubt. One of these includes being blessed with the creative touch needed to become a beauty maven in this industry. Aerin Lauder has demonstrated such talent through her global luxury lifestyle brand, AERIN. Furthermore, she has cultivated her talent in home décor, fashion accessories, philanthropy, and beauty. Aerin recently released her latest fragrance collection, Rose de Grasse which embodies the scent of roses—specifically Rose Centifolia, Rose Otto Bulgarian, and Rose Absolute. “I’ve always been inspired by the pure beauty and timelessness of roses. When conceiving the new Rose de Grasse perfume, we wanted the fragrance to be ultra-feminine and light,” shares the mother of two. The New Yorker takes her fragrance collections seriously, going through a detailed process and ensuring she is active every step of the way. “It always starts with an image in my mind – what I want to say in that fragrance and what notes I think will express that. But that’s only the beginning.” The next step includes working closely with the perfumers until she finds the right scent to translate her message. “I obsess over every little detail – I think it’s a family trait.” Of the products offered by her collection, Aerin’s favorite is the Rose de Grasse Parfum, “It’s the perfect combination of my favorite roses in a light beautiful scent. I like to spray it in my hairbrush before I brush my hair.” Aerin also has a knack for designing home décor pieces and accessories. From candles to lamps, pillows, and much more, you can find collective accents made with you in mind. Whether you’re looking for a classic or modern look, AERIN has a desirable piece for you. By adding candles to her fragrance collection, Aerin combines two of her loves in one, “Candles can instantly transform the feeling of a space. This season I’ll be lighting the AERIN Beauty Rose de Grasse Candle for guests.” A tip Aerin carries with her everywhere comes from her late grandmother, “‘You only have one face, take care of it.’ Skincare is so important. I always wear sunscreen and I invest in high-quality products that help protect and repair my skin.” Her favorite skincare product from Estée Lauder is the Advanced Night Repair. You can get to know Aerin personally through her brand accessories; each piece is mirrored by her passions. WoW Lens: The Future of Smartphone Cameras

Social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram have completely customized our ways of living. It is now easier for people to pick and choose the content they like and incorporate it into their own profiles, allowing for them to comment and curate as they see necessary. The outcome? The demand for bloggers to seek new and innovative ways to keep tech savvy visitors interested in both content and visual graphics. Bloggers have begun to document events, places, items and tutorials in order to form more personal relationships with their audiences and create an open form for communication with their followers. Smartphone cameras have played a key role in this rapidly growing digital era. It has revolutionized the way photos are viewed and taken and has allowed for bloggers to stay up to date with the news hungry and visually orientated culture we have become. Recent technology has allowed people to capture some impressive shots, but the built-in camera lens is quite limited and not capable of capturing professional quality images. However, the creators at AppBanc, LLC, a Silicon Valley company, have found a way to enhance the photographic capability of mobile devices by creating a smart lens case for phones that can rival the performance of professional cameras and allow bloggers to appeal to their audience. WoW Lens, the slim yet protective phone case that allows you to switch between lenses has been introduced to the digital world. The carousel technology allows you to choose from five specialty lenses. The Original iPhone Camera Lens uses the built-in camera while still carrying your phone in the protective case. The Macro Lens extends the depth of field of the iPhone’s macro range, which enables the phone to capture amazingly close subject photography. WoW Lens’ Wide-Angle Lens increases the iPhone’s camera view by 30º not just horizontally, but also vertically, providing users with 180º camera view increase. The fun Cameo function isolates the subject of the photograph and adds a smooth vignette around the subject. This feature heightens skin tones, colors and adds an alluring composure to facial features. Lastly the Polarized Neutral Density Lens is extremely high quality. This lens helps tone down bright daytime lighting, reduces glares and adds a blur effect to motion pictures. WoW Lens is also extremely practical. The carousel is approximately the height of two quarters stacked on top of each other and the case is only a few millimeters taller and wider than the actual phone. The polycarbonate plastic shell ensures that the phone will continue to be lightweight, meaning the phone can still easily fit in your pocket and the days of having to carry cumbersome camera bags and switch between bulky lenses are long gone. The nifty little case is bundled with an innovative app called eZoom. EZoom brings the new concept of lossless zooming to both live image shots and images that are already stored in your library. When you crop and enlarge a photo on eZoom, the clarity remains crisp. This patented technology adds more pixels to the image you cropped. In fact, you can choose how many pixels you want. This means that any photo taken with the WoW Lens and then cropped on eZoom can be enlarged and printed without the fear of an image becoming too pixilated. Most smartphone users tend to employ their phones as their principal photo gallery, and would therefore benefit from eZoom’s made-for-smartphone software. Inventions such as WoW Lens can help bloggers maintain a steady following. The WoW Lens’ portability allows for bloggers to document events as they are on the go. The high quality and professional looking images captures the attention of readers, who will want to continue to explore and read further into the blog. For Miami bloggers, WoW Lens can prove to be an essential tool. With so many cultural events and nightlife happenings occurring almost daily, bloggers can engage their readers on an article that is to come by simply snapping a photo and posting it along with a tagline on all social outlets. A simple snapshot could encourage a reader to attend an event, share the post or even start a conversation. The possibilities and challenges with the always evolving technology era we live in are endless, and WoW Lens is one tool that will help us not fall behind. Compatible with iPhone 5/5s and iPhone 6 (coming soon) Available in black, white, magenta, and copper For more information, please visit wow-lens.com

A Look Back: The Most Iconic Bags of 2013

2013 was a year of incredible moments: Beyoncé dropped a bomb on us, aka her Visual Album, without so much as a peep – Poof PR minions, be gone! Miley had a mental breakdown in front of millions of people via the VMAs; but perhaps the most memorable moments reside in the form of a woman’s handbag. That’s right, forget the celebrities – show us the bags! We are here to bring you the most iconic bags of 2013! 1. The Chanel Hula Hoop Bag: Mr. Lagerfeld makes no mistake of gracing us with only the best in outrageously fabulous designs and controversial runway shows. That’s why it was no surprise, when the “hand-bag”, intended for the beach, in the shape of a full on hula hoop came swaying down the catwalk for Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection. This oversized Chanel-O, however not for sale to the public, was made in smaller versions for the trend-obsessed and woven-leather connoisseurs. The likes of this behemoth is sure to hang from the walls alongside Picasso and Van Gough. As impractical as it may be, we applaud Karl for his ceaseless flare for the theatrics!   2. All things Charlotte Olympia: Charlotte Olympia first stepped onto the scene in 2007 and has been serving as fashion’s comic relief ever since. Although we would love to pick just one of Charlotte’s wacky creations, inspired by the 1940s in all of its glorious kitschiness, we simply cannot! The English born designer can make anything into your night’s clutch, from a clock to a gummie bear – you name it, she’ll make it! Keep the laughs coming, Charlotte dear!   3. The Celine Trapeze Bag: Perhaps the bag that made the biggest splash this year was Phoebe Philo’s love-child – the Trapeze Bag. We all either have it or lust for it; either way it has been the top of our credit card-maxing agendas! Not only are the consumers gobbling every inch of this bag up, but every fellow designer, as well! Copycats like Philip Lim and to Alexander Wang are showing their appreciation by adding similar styles to their collections. You must have done something right, Phoebe!
