Hyatt Centric: A Lifestyle Hotel

By Alyse Mier Hyatt Centric South Beach, a new “lifestyle” hotel developed by Miami-based development group Robert Finvarb and its partner David Martins celebrated its opening recently. The 105-room hotel is the first Hyatt Centric brand hotel in Miami, and the second Hyatt Centric brand property worldwide. “We’re excited to introduce our newest brand, Hyatt Centric, to the vibrant South Beach,” said Sandra Micek, Global Senior Vice President of brands for Hyatt Hotels. Located on 16th and Collins, the hotel is perfectly located in the heart of South Beach–allowing for guests to be in the middle of the action and explore all that Miami has to offer. “Guests will be steps away from the best in culture, dining, and nightlife,” said developer Robert Finvarb. Architecture group Kobi Karp drew inspiration from the local culture when designing the hotel. Creating a 10-story glass building that sits above a historic building façade, Kobi Karp blended the city’s historic Art Deco roots with a very modern aesthetic. Contemporary furnishings and carefully selected artwork, curated by local Dina Mitrani, provided guests with the much needed calming atmosphere. At the Hyatt Centric guests entered the hotel lobby, located on the third floor, where they enjoyed signature cocktails and could peruse through the hotel’s curated book collection, creatively named The Corner. The hotel features DECK sixteen, a Spanish Mediterranean restaurant offering locally sourced food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the talented chef William Milian as its executive chef. Additional amenities include: an outside deck with a swimming pool, complimentary WiFi, fitness center and a contemporary style boardroom located on the second floor. The hotel also offers a unique list of off site amenities such as: custom designed bicycles and specially priced services at Exhale Spa. Hyatt Centric South Beach is sure to bring a simple and refined touch to the Miami hotel market. The Hyatt Centric South Beach is located at 1600 Collins Avenue

By Alyse Mier A well-deserved “congratulations” is in order for the exceptionally talented actress Patricia Arquette. Arquette won the Bulgari Award for Best Actress of the Year at the 61st Taormina FilmFest in Sicily this past Thursday. The award is a symbol of the Italian fashion house’s commitment to honor prestigious contemporary film awards, and to pay tribute to Arquette’s achievements. Just this year, Arquette won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her exceptional way of portraying the trials of motherhood in Boyhood. The award was presented at the Teatro Antico, a historic landmark dating back to seventh century BC. This spectacular landmark in southern Italy was one of the ancient world’s best-known theatres. The venue and award are truly symbolic of Bulgari’s longstanding association with cinema.

Sunglass Hut: Electrify Your Summer

By Alyse Mier Summer is the season when our hair gets lighter, our skin gets darker and days turn into nights before we know it. This past Sunday, Sunglass Hut’s Electrify Your Summer tour made its stop in Miami. The 13-hour bash featured all of this summer’s best party essentials: live music, refreshing cocktails, local food, a fun game of volleyball, a pop up shop with the best shades from Sunglass Hut and an energy absorbing dance floor. The innovative dance floor would sensor the energy from the crowd’s dancing and light up the crowd-powered sun. The more you danced, the brighter the sun, bringing the much-needed sunshine to the gloomy Miami day. Make sure to stay shaded on the brightest of days and electrify your summer with Sunglass Hut.
