Miami’s March to Summer: Crafting Your Beach-Ready Body with a Conscience

By Diana Lammerts  As the Miami sun starts heating up as summer approaches, our city’s residents sharpen their focus on achieving that coveted summer ‘beach body’. March marks not only the beginning of spring but also a crucial time for adjusting our focus towards wellness on both a physical and mental level. While our city is passionate about all things stylish — from fashion to music and more — it is easy to see that, for many, aesthetic heralds performance. The Unseen Hazard Hiding in Your Workout Wardrobe While Miami’s fitness enthusiasts diligently work towards their summer body goals, a silent adversary might be undermining their efforts. This adversary isn’t a lack of motivation or the wrong workout plan but something far less expected: our workout clothes. Recent studies, including those by the Center for Center for Environmental Health (CEH) and findings in the journal Environmental Science & Technology,, have revealed a troubling truth. The very sportswear we rely on might be compromising our health, with chemicals like bisphenol A (BPA)—linked to severe health conditions such as breast and prostate cancer, metabolic disorders, and heart disease—leeching from the fabric into our skin. The Price of Our Fitness Fashion In a city celebrated for its fashion-forward ethos, the appeal of affordable, stylish sportswear is undeniable. However, the hidden costs of these choices often extend far beyond our wallets, implicating us in global issues of unfair labor practices and environmental degradation. “I couldn’t find actually the items which really fit my lifestyle and the design approach,” reflects Rafi Ahmed, the founder of MOROTAI, on his motivation to start a brand that stands as a beacon for sustainable fashion. This stark reminder challenges us to consider the broader implications of our purchasing decisions, influencing not just our health but the wellbeing of workers and ecosystems worldwide. Embracing Sustainability and Ethical Choices in Miami MOROTAI started in Germany, has expanded to Asia, and now the US. It’s philosophy: harmonizing style, functionality, and ethical responsibility. This echoes Miami’s own ethos of vibrancy and sustainability. As we prepare for summer, let’s look beyond the aesthetics of our workout gear to its impact on our health and the planet. Choosing brands that prioritize ethical production and sustainability can steer us towards a more conscious lifestyle, aligning our fitness goals with our values. Moreover, Ahmed’s journey from the inception of MOROTAI to its expansion into global markets serves as an inspiration for Miami’s entrepreneurs and leaders. “If you have the right product, you don’t need to buy like 10 or 15 different shirts,” Ahmed states, advocating for a shift from fast fashion to durable, sustainable choices. His story reminds us that success doesn’t have to come at the expense of our health, ethical standards, or the environment. His vision also convinced the judges on the German version of Shark Tank.  Miami’s Path Forward As we move closer to June, let’s not only focus on sculpting our bodies but also on making mindful choices about our workout gear. It’s a call to action for all of us, from beach-goers to boardroom leaders, to choose options that benefit not just ourselves but our community and the planet. This season, Miami has the opportunity to lead by example, demonstrating that our commitment to fitness can also reflect our dedication to a healthier, more sustainable future.

It is always a good time to share a few gorgeous fall pieces that are perfect for fall outfit ideas. I hope you like them ! Black Jumpsuit and strass earrings are always a good idea. A black or white jumpsuit is a basic that could be worn in the summer with flat sandals or in the fall with high heels, strass earrings and a blazer or coat.  Osklen Jumpsuit / @osklen Sometimes we have many options in our closet that is difficult to come up with an outfit. When you are in doubt, select a basic like a black mini dress, add a classic pair of boots and a cute or statement cardigan. Viva Italia! Miami Fashion Influencer Karen Huggins and her dog Teddy ? explores Italy ??

My husband and I along with our Teddy ? spent fifteen days admiring the beauty of Italy experiencing different places including Lake Como, Venice, Sardinia and Milan. It gives me great pleasure to share with MSM’s reader’s my experiences and photos along the way ??? Our first stop was Lake Como, one of the most picturesque places in Italy with Victorian Gardens and lake shore romantic restaurants. I felt like part of a painting. Amazing place to relax and enjoy local food at many restaurants and farms. Next stop, Venice. This was our first time in this romantic city and it did not disappoint. It is incredible when you see that the streets are canals. Taking a gondola ride and getting lost in the little alleys is a MUST. After a romantic visit to Venice, Sardinia (Costa Smeralda, North of the island) was the next stop. Sardinia is known for beautiful beaches, exclusive hotels, celebrities and shopping for the best in fashion brands; The Island blends the sophistication of Italy and beach lifestyle. The landscape is exotic with wild vegetation. It is paradise! I really recommend renting a boat for a day and enjoy ing the beaches that can only be accessed by boat. The last place we visited was Milan. It is a small city where streets are like fashion runways. If you love Fashion this is the place! Amazing Designer boutiques and beautiful places to have coffee and dinner. A couple of pictures of the trip and outfits … Follow me on Instagram!  @karenhuggins_blog

Swim Week has become bigger, better and  simply more interesting each year. Mind giving us a few hints for 2019? We’ll have exciting spaces, like multi level tents on the beach where we offer anything from panel discussions to yoga classes to dinners, brunches and after parties for the shows. In addition we take over some hotels where we’ll have shows, like at the Setai, the Delanos and the W.   So lot’s of different venues. Fantastic. What unique features is Miami bringing to the table asa fashion metropole? Well, it’s the crossroad between North and South America, plus many Europeans frequent Miami. Then given that Miami has a summer that pretty much lasts 365 days, swimwear is the dress code here. A lot designers do not just show their collections here at the shows and trade shows but also stay afterwards to shoot their ad campaigns in Miami. This is something that not too many cities can offer.   How many visitors do you expect this year? Somewhere 25.000 to 30.000 people.   Impressive. Will the public also be able to enjoy Swim Week? Yes, we offer a certain amount of seats at shows to the public, so this way they can very much engage. And since we have so many different locations in order to underscore that every designer is unique, every show is very different from the other which makes the whole experience even more exciting.   The press must love it, too…Oh yes, we have media outlets from around the world covering Swim Week, including Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Russia, Europe, South America… you name it. Like the public the media too appreciates that you have highly diverse shows, you have trade shows, you have outstanding events …there is really something for everybody. From our Editor In Chief, Nadja Atwal… Talk about exciting! As for exciting shows to see, it is safe to say that like last year, Monica Hansen Beachwear will be one of the top show highlights during this Swim Week. Within only 3 years Monica Hansen Beachwear has become an international top-selling swimwear brand, beloved by both the critical fashion media and celebrity world. The success of the brand, founded by Top model Monica Hansen, involves 3 remarkable factors: First there is Monica Hansen’s detailed knowledge of swimwear from her time as a top swimwear model gracing hundreds of magazine covers. Secondly the handcrafted unique cuts combined with Made-in-Italy quality and last but not least the fact that top global media outlets – from Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue to Vogue – instantly recognized that these bikinis and swimsuits create an outstanding look on every woman who wants to flaunt her curves and welcomes getting (positive) attention for that matter. In 2018 Monica delivered her highly praised show at the Miami Swim Week where she herself graced the catwalk in one of her designs; which resulted not just in a wave of international sales and media coverage but an explosion of instagram posts with Hollywood stars and international supermodels posing in Monica’s designs. Her pieces don’t just look fabulous, they each tell a little story and enable women to show a different side of them whenever they feel like it. And although the swimwear market is so highly competitive, Monica’s designs dominated this years Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. Almost 70% of all the featured swimwear is by Monica Hansen Beachwear! Naturally we felt Monica was the expert to ask about the new trends. “For the current season we are seeing a lot of neon and also animal prints” Monica told us. “There is a 1990’s influence with high cut legs on a lot of the bottoms and a focus on sports bras and one piece suits showing a lot of underboob. There is also the use of plastic clips or buckles as trims.” But what is the one trend we all should embrace? “Animal prints are the big trend, so it’s not surprising that our most popular suit for this current season is the Leopard One Piece Bardot swimsuit. For next season I forsee a continuation of animal prints and early 1990’s inspiration along the lines of Versace with the Victorian prints. Also popular will be some new colors like neon mint green and coral. ” With all this we can not wait for Swim Week 2019 to start. Stay tuned for our continued coverage including all the highlights from Monica’s show on July 13th. Monica Hansen Miami Swim Week 2018 / Monica Hansen Beachwear

Top Fashion Blogger Karen Huggins Shares Her Favorite Miami Styles

I am Karen! A Venezuelan who spends as much time as possible on her greatest passion: traveling and exploring new things. What I love most are the people I meet and the way every place expresses fashion. It’s about discovering, feeling and living experiences, getting out of your comfort zone and enjoying the great adventure that life is.   Since I was a kid, I was obsessed with traveling the world that’s why I decided to study International Foreign Affairs. Traveling is the best way to learn and educate ourselves.    I have been living abroad since October 2007, taking a piece of every place in my heart: from Barcelona the beautiful multicultural philosophy, from Madrid the joy, from Argentina the passion, from Miami the sunshine state of mind and from Venezuela (my country) the latin flavor.   Fashion is my passion and I decided to create my personal blog on July 2017 in order to share with people my style ideas, travel tips and insights around the world. I want to highlight that fashion is for everyone, mixing high-street with high-fashion and most importantly, that style is all about being effortless chic.   I’m based in Miami since 2014 and would love to show you a list with my 5 favorite styles for Miami:   BBQ day: The weather in Miami is hot half of the year so I like to wear a light maxi dress, wedge sandals or mules (when in doubt https://www.revolve.com/ for dresses and shoes). Brunch: I like the classic and girly style so I will go with shorts and a  statement tank top – can be paired with high heels espadrilles and a tote bag  (I`m obsessed with the Artisan of IQ handbags and earrings https://artisansofiq.com/ )  Date night: a Black dress is always a good idea, I like the classic style for a date.   Events: I love Blazers and if I can wear them as a dress.. better! I pick a colorful blazer dress and elegant sandals, I would add statement earrings.  Now as for beach wear, I love the unique prints and designs from Camilla www.camilla.com and Agua de Coco Swimsuits and beachwear (check their popular instagram @aguadecoc). Don’t forget your sunglasses  sunglasses and hat! My 5 favorite beauty products to go with it: Sunscreen: SPF 50 every day on the face Serum:La Prairie Anti-Aging Rapid Response (it`s amazing how it erases dark spots and little blemish scars) Hydratate cream:La Prairie Interception Power Duo (Day-Night) BB Cream Dior: Dior Hydra Life BB Cream (the secret for a flawless skin in one product) Mascara: I always used luxury lines mascaras because I thought they were the best but once I found NYX Worth the Hype Mascara (recommended by an amazing makeup artist @dannymiamipower), I was amazed. Lip liner: Maybelline Nude lip Liner.    Check Karen’s blog www.karenhugginsblog.com  and follow her on instagram @karenhuggins_blog

Travel Talk with Lea Black

If Miami had a queen, it would be Lea Black. Smart, regal, powerful, classy and (luckily we live in America) stylish! Our favorite renaissance woman shines with IQ and EQ – so obviously we cared for her take on traveling and caught up with her just before she took off on a trip to LA … Lea Black:  Travel is usually stressful for most people. Some people love the travel part and others just love the getting there part. I’m the just get there girl. The airports, airplanes, preparation, scheduling, packing, carting the luggage around part is not something I enjoy, in fact I dread it.  But what is more exciting than being somewhere fabulous on a trip, especially a luxury trip? So, for me I like to keep it simple and basic. Travel light. Take things that are easily interchangeable, mix and match, comfortable yet chic. Items that don’t need a lot of fuss, that would be the ironing or steaming thing.  So here’s my plan… For clothes, a little black dress, a pair of black slacks, a pair of jeans, some casually elegant tops and shoes that will go with any of it, like a pair of basic pumps for night, platforms for day and a comfortable pair of walking shoes. If you have a basic blazer that goes with everything that’s an easy upgrade from a casual look, especially when you add the jewelry and a scarf. Add your undies and pj’s and you’re all set.  Depending on the length of travel, I may take a couple of extra slacks or tops, but always things that I can mix and match which will make for several outfits. Pack a few scarfs that go with everything, a day handbag and a night handbag, and maybe a clutch. A gorgeous scarf worn in an elegant style will make any outfit highly styled. Sometimes I take or wear a belt.  For accessories, sunglasses, perhaps a hat that packs well and the entire wardrobe will fit in a carry bag. The night hand bag will fit in the day bag and I carry that on the plane in my tote bag along with any cash or jewelry and identification. If traveling internationally convert a few dollars into local currency in advance so when you arrive you have cab fare, tipping or any miscellaneous items you might want to pick up on the way to the hotel.  Add a stunning pair of sunglasses and you’re all set.  Don’t laugh, but if I’ve used items I know I won’t use again for the duration, like things that need cleaning or items I’ve purchased along the way, I fold/ pack them nicely and put in a small box I have the concierge at the hotel provide when I check in and the day before I leave I have my pre paid ground Fedex label ready to put on the box and drop it off at the concierge, usually to arrive about two days after I’m home. This lightens my return luggage and allows a little extra space for any last minute purchases.  I’ve found if I roll items verses fold them in my carry on, they’re far less wrinkled and usually don’t require much steaming. But if they do, the quick easy remedy is to put on a clothes hanger and hang in the bathroom and turn on the hot water in the shower and the wrinkles steam right out. For jewelry, and yes, I’m an addict. I only take the Fine jewelry that I can wear unless it’s a long trip. And if I do take a few extra small pieces they are usually safety pinned inside my bra or on my person, (I have been known to wear two watches at once on a plane, hidden under long sleeves or a necklace and pearls, hidden under a scarf). But be aware of what might set the security alarm off and if a concern put in a small bag inside your handbag and as soon as I get through security, I head to the restroom with my secret jewelry plan. My jewelry is safer on  me than in my handbag. And if I have to exit in a hurry, I won’t need to try to grab my jewelry while exiting the plane. In addition I usually pack a few pieces of fashion jewelry, depending where I’m going and length of trip I may just wear or carry mostly fashion/ costume pieces. Earrings, necklace or pearls and cuff, is all you need if you wear a ring and keep it on. Never ever take off a ring to wash your hands. Only take it off to put away or to clean.  And the second I get to the hotel- I lock my good pieces in the room safe unless I’m wearing them. When I book my hotel, I require three things: a no smoking room, a tub, and a secure safe. Other than that I just try to go with the flow.  Cosmetics and toiletries;  I have pre packed at all times in a small clear bag the basics, a new unwrapped tooth brush and tooth paste. My daily skin care routine that is about a three – minute regime a night and a one-two minute regime every morning. I of course use the LeaBlackBeauty facial wash every morning and every night. Followed by the LeaBlack serum day and night. I use the LeaBlack Intensive Moisturizer Lotion under my make up in the morning and the Lea Black Beauty Intensive Moisture Creme at night. This keeps my skin completely hydrated and keeps my skin and pores clean. To help keep the pores small and unclogged and my skin buffed and with a glow, I use the LeaBlackBeauty Exfoliator. This is my Miracle Secret that I use two to three times a week to scrub off the old cells and deep cleanse the pores. That’s my daily skincare regime quick and easy – 5

Multitasking Sportswear? Yes Please!

Active wear has become every wear. It is often stylish enough to make it by the velvet rope and if you are serious about working out and looking great, you have plenty of options that slim you down or keep you dry or simply support your exercises.  One of the new gurus in the active wear arena is Nathalie de Champlain, Founder of Caliloko. She made the sought after ingredient “compression” her main focus while injecting a high dosage of fashionista in her designs. Since she also knows a lot about fitness and nutrition, we felt compelled to direct some personal questions her way. MSM: As a trendsetter in the active wear business, what do you see as the main trends for the coming season? NDC: Since I am a competitive squash player, high-performance fitness athlete, entrepreneur and busy mom of two sons, I know how important fitness, style and comfort are to me – and I’m certain for all who include fitness into their daily routines.   As the fitness, health and wellness trend is increasingly becoming a key part of many people’s lives, wearing compression technology clothing to prevent injuries and reduce soreness is now added to the shopping list. However, technical wear has to be stylish, durable and very comfortable. The coming season will continue to see new lightweight textures and fabrics as well as a lot of matching sets of long tights, capris and shorts with tank tops and sports bras. Tones are more neutral. Women will continue to wear their leggings with hoodies and post-workout lightweight layers. MSM: In a booming but highly competitive active wear market, you saw a niche … tell us what you saw. NDC: Over the past couple of years, after testing compression wear during competitions, long runs, recovery (including while sleeping) after a race or even when we travelled long distances, my husband and I realized that compression clothing helped us recover much faster, reduce soreness and prevent injuries. However, the products available then in the highly technical active wear market were not fashionable and not always comfortable. I saw a unique opportunity to make technical more fashionable clothes by creating a premium range of high quality products — helping to boost performance and prevent muscle injury all while looking amazing. MSM: What sets your brand apart from the others ? NDC: Caliloko is different in many ways. We are technical with a fashion twist. It sets us apart.  Our designs are nothing like what we see out there. We bring the compression wear industry to a new level of experience and a more prominent part of people’s wardrobes. We use body mapping to guide the technical drawings and created patterns and textures that are unique to our brand. We sculpt the body and bring health benefits, with fabrics that are breathable, moisture wicking and anti-bacterial with UPF 50+ sun protection.  MSM: For those who just decided to get fit and dress the part, what work out routine and matching outfits do you recommend to get “started” ? NDC: Fitness is so important for everyone so I recommend for newbies to start slow and gradually incorporate a fitness element as part of a weekly routine. Add fitness in your agenda and stick to it, treat it like a client meeting or an important presentation. I also recommend buddy training. It is way more motivating, fun and consistent. Caliloko is dress ready. You can wear our active tights under gym pants or as a single layer to tackle your leg day or any of your fitness activities such as jogging, running, cross fit training. Should you choose yoga, a long walk or spinning, our recovery long tights are perfect for you. You can also use them for your post-training recovery and some people even sleep in them to reduce soreness the next day. You look good on the street and in bed! MSM: What’s your personal work-out routine? NDC: As fitness and squash are part of my life, they allow me to channel my energy, and feel more balanced as a mother and business woman. I have built in strength, cardio and core training in my schedule and mix it with squash drills and matches. My husband is also very involved into fitness as an amateur triathlete and Ironman. We use compression daily and it allows us to get going and enjoy our high intensity workout routines. He even uses our recovery long tights through the night after a long distance run or bike ride. Since we travel a lot, we also use our long tights on planes and when we need to stand on our feet for many hours. It helps to avoid swollen muscles and reduces soreness. MSM: Any diet secrets to boost the work out results? NDC: We love to eat healthy at home. It is a way of life and it has become even more important when 10 years ago, we learned that my husband’s cholesterol level was too high. As the main cook of the house, I then started to control what we ate; avoiding processed food and red meat. I started to prioritize super foods, fish, grains, fruits and vegetables in our diet. Since then, my husband’s cholesterol level is under control and actually way under the harmful levels. And as part of our fitness, we regularly make our fresh juices (using a juicer) and smoothies especially within 20 minutes after a workout where your body absorbs fuels in the most optimal way. What boosts our workout results is the combination of our healthy eating habits, combined with proper hydration and enough hours of sleep.  For more information on Caliloko and their products, visit them today at www.Caliloko.com [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10429″]

Monica Hansen Endless Summer

One on One with swimwear designer, Monica Hansen By Nadja Atwal / Photos by Cameron Hammond 1.) You went from being a super successful swimwear model to now being the new rising star as a swimwear designer. How did you do it? I have always had passion for design and fashion.  It was a very natural transition for me. I started doing drawings and illustrations at a very young age. I started my swimwear company about 2 years ago, and since then I’ve been a full time designer. 2.) Few markets are as competitive as the swimwear market – what sets your designs apart from the competition? I think there are a few key factors that sets our line apart from others . We manufacture in Italy and all our fabric and trim suppliers are Italian. Most swimwear companies manufacture in China and other countries. The fabric and workmanship that Italy provides is far more higher quality in comparison to other countries when it comes to swimwear. I have also structured the line, so that there is 5-6 options for tops you can mix match with 5-6 options for bottoms. We sell our tops and bottoms separately. We carry sizes XS to XL. We all are built different. Some people are S bottom  large top or vs. Most swimwear companies do not provide you that many options of tops and bottoms to mix match. The other benefit about that is that a customer can by two tops and one bottom, then have two sets of bikinis that looks different. 3.) What are the trends for now and which trends are here to stay in your view? The trends are little bit of 80’s and 90’s vibe. It’s very body and fitness focus cuts and trims. The suits and bottom have more of high waisted cuts, which makes your legs look long. Colors are black, white, nude.. You will see a lot of pastel and also yellow for the coming season. This trend will carry over to the next season. 4.) The supermodels and Hollywood crowd love your designs. Kindly tell us about one of your favorite instagram’s from a celeb in MH and why do you love it so much? I love Beyoncé in our Pineapple suit and also Christie Brinkley. Beyoncé because it’s just her style and it fits her perfectly. Christie Brinkley because she still rocks our smallest suits at 63.. She just amazing!! 5.) Not everyone has perfect curves and your designs are so far more on the revealing side. Can we also expect swim dresses or retro style designs a la Monica Hansen for extra coverage but as much sex appeal? Yes, we are planning to expand our collection starting next season with more ready to wear clothing (dresses, coverups and other clothing) 6.) What is your favorite destination in Miami for playing the beach queen or pool bunny? (name the hotel/resort and why) I love the Edition hotel ! It’s such an amazing hotel. Modern and so cool. They even have an ice skate ring in the basement. It’s so much fun. I had my models last season ice skating with bikinis. Also their pool is a site to see. Something magical about that hotel.

BloggerBuzz: A Tel Aviv fashionista making the best of Miami

Fashionista Michal Harel’s travel diary about her first time experience in Miami. Dealing with the city vibes she compares Miami to her own home town of Tel Aviv. Michal reviews her adventures in Miami and fashionable spots that she recommends to other travelers who visit. Visiting Miami for the first time was an extraordinary experience. As a fashion blogger who lives in Israel and is passionate about travel and lifestyle, I find it interesting to discover new destinations, since traveling makes people grow in a way that it turns them mature. So how does it happen? Well I chose my flight spontaneously to Miami, picked up my bags and entered the other side of the world. Landing at the airport, I felt very curious to find out about the culture of this amazing city. When traveling to a new city, visitors struggle to find the right place to stay. It all depends on the budget and what type of experience each traveler wants. As for me, I wanted to be located in central Miami so that I would be able to walk everywhere within a distance. Finding a suitable place to stay is an important step as it has a significant impact on the overall quality of the trip.  There are two options to consider: 1. Airbnb – where visitors can stay with the locals which allow them to nourish deep into the culture. 2. Hotel – a more expensive option that provides personal services and facilities based on visitors needs. Epic Hotel Balcony View Lobby Roof Top Bay View   As a fashion blogger who travels a lot, it is important for me to choose a place that has the most of Miami’s views for capturing photos. I stayed at the Epic Hotel which is located in Downtown Miami. After receiving a warm welcome from their staff, I turned on my Ford Mustang and went on the road to absorb the city vibes. Watching the sea view on Ocean drive reminds me of my home town in Tel Aviv. That’s when I noticed that my culture was similar to Miami in a way that both cities have hot climate  which affects the way people dress and act. Just as Tel Aviv, I can say Miami is ‘the city that never sleeps’. “Miami feels like home, although I’m far away from Tel Aviv. I was amazed to discover the cities’ similarity.” Miami is all about fun and you can never get bored in this city. The streets are crowded with different cultures of people who value each other. Miamian’s shows a great sense of community. There are tons of roof bars, cafes and restaurants to visit such as Sugar Factory, Mango Tropical Cafe, the famous pizzeria Mister 01, and Full Bloom. These places are visited by many locals; therefore it’s great to experience Miami through their eyes. Sugar Factory Full Bloom Mango Tropical Cafe Mister 01 Fashion Walking the South beach area, I noticed that people were mostly wearing swim suits or dressed in a casual and laid back style. They believe – their priority is to feel comfortable with what they wear. Due to the favorable weather in Miami, people are able to lead a healthy lifestyle filled with fitness clubs and bike lanes – comparable to Rotchild Boulevard in Tel Aviv, which plays a big role in people’s appearance. That also reflects on Miami’s culture, where it is all about freedom of expression by accepting different cultures no matter what’s their race or gender – typical to Tel Aviv. Miami is one of the friendliest city’s that encourages mingling, connecting with other people, unlike other cities in the US such as New York or LA. Betsy Hotel South Beach Ocean Drive Art When traveling, I noticed that each city I have visited has their own form of art. One area in Miami called Wynwood is famous for its graffiti walls. The Wynwood Arts District is home to over 70 Art Galleries, Retail Stores, Antique Shops, Eclectic Bars, and one of the largest open-air street-art installations in the world that is worth the visit. Graffiti –also an art form of expression has been popular over many years as a way to leave imprints on a wall or simply to communicate with others by signing a wall with their names. Graffiti art is very popular among local artists. In Tel Aviv, The Wynwood District reminds me of the Neve Tzedek neighborhood in my home town as they’re both filled with graffiti walls. Llia Torlin Neve Tzedek Experience If anyone is visiting Miami for a short period of time, which does not allow them to experience all of the neighborhoods – then a Helicopter flight would be a good choice as visitors can observe and view the city from the air. Seeing Miami from the sky will give each an unforgettable experience, especially for those who want to overcome their fear and challenge themselves. What to expect: The feeling of courage, a stunning and breathtaking view, the mix of the sky and sea color tones from Miami’s beach strip, and an entire city that looks like mosaic. Throughout my trip to Miami I have realized its similarity to my city – Tel Aviv, and I can definitely say I had the greatest time of my life for the first time as a traveler fashionista. Whether it’s enjoying the amazing sunset by relaxing at the beach, getting a tan and shopping on the Lincoln Road, taking a private cruise to Star Island, riding a jet ski (and overcoming my biggest fears while doing that), or going out to fashionable clubs and restaurants such as Zumma and E11EVEN, Miami is a unique experience! I will miss this amazing city and surely be back again soon. As I always say when a vacation comes to an end… Till the next time! See you soon Miami 🙂 https://www.instagram.com/MICHALH1986/ https://www.facebook.com/MHfashionista/ https://twitter.com/michalh23 http://mhfashionista.com/

Interview: Miami Power Woman, Lea Black

Interview by Nadja Atwal / Photography by Greg Lotus They say “It takes one to know one.” Therefore, we asked successful business woman and political commentator Nadja Atwal (who made headlines first after she was named sexiest power woman by a top US magazine) to interview one of Miami’s most prominent power women: Lea Black. Power some galore! Black became known to a large audience on the show “The Real House Wives of Miami” where to many she was the stand out class act, the one real lady with smarts and calmness in a pool of vanity and madness. Like our former cover model Joanna Krupa, she was already a success story before she joined the show and has managed to diversify her career by building her brand, becoming a bestselling book author and making her charity one where actual A-listers line up. And all the while making family life work as a devoted mom and wife. 1. Most viewers thought you were the voice of wisdom on The Real Housewives of Miami…What did you take away from your time on the show and the high dosage of female drama? Any new lessons learned? I learned some people will do anything for attention and it’s best to stay away from people that have nothing to lose. Drama and conflict can be interesting when it’s organic and based on fact with good intentions meant for true resolution. But when it gets dark, or it’s fabricated, it’s not interesting or entertaining. 2. Your tag line for Season 2 of RHOM was “I can deal with a lot of things but I can’t deal with stupid.” How did it come to that… too many run ins with incapable people? Yes! I even put it on pillows and a cosmetic bag that we sell at leablack.com I realized that when dealing with smart people that have something to gain and something to lose you can usually come to agreement or agree to disagree, and at least have stimulating conversations.  But people that think any means justify an end or that are stupid enough to say and do anything not thinking about long term damage are just not worth being around and in their crossfire. Smart people make life easier even when you disagree. Stupid people are short sighted and too stupid to even consider collateral damage and consequences. Trying to reason with stupid is a waste of time. I never want to be the smartest person in the room. I want to be around people smarter than me to learn from them and evolve. 3. As power women we are easily pushed in the corner of  being harsh even dudish and the label “bitch” comes easily into play. Yet you look very feminine, and are a loving mother and wife. Do people feel confused about you and how would you describe yourself? I think for the most part I am misunderstood. People don’t really know me they just think they do. And what I think of myself is far more important to me than what others think of me. I know I’m fair, honest, have integrity, keep my word and try to do the right thing. People can interpret my actions and words however they want to and twist them to suit their preconceived ideas of me but I don’t compromise who I am and what I believe to expose who others are. They usually do a good job of that on their own. I’m a pretty down to earth jeans and tee shirt simple girl that enjoys the good life but I’m not beholden to it or defined by it. I know the difference between being and doing, and that gives me peace of mind.   4. On twitter you are very outspoken about politics. Even though I could not disagree more with you on our president elect, I always enjoy your tweets and applaud you for your outspoken attitude. Now how are you dealing with friends and biz friends who like you very much but also like our newly elected president?  People have different political beliefs for different reasons. I’ve always fought for the underdog. Many times I feel I fight harder for them than they fight for themselves. I don’t believe a guy who has been as self serving as Trump has been for 70 years all of a sudden cares about the underprivileged and middle class. He pushes all of my buttons. Even if I agreed with him on policy his behavior disturbs me and I don’t trust him. He’s said too many things that in my opinion denigrate the office of the President and how we are perceived in the world. I’m truly hoping the people that favor him aren’t disappointed. Many Americans want the same thing and just have different ways of getting there. Then there are the haters and haters are gonna hate. Period the end. So I just ignore them and don’t have them in my life. 5. As a business woman you built a respectable little empire already. Skincare, handbags…how and why did this all start? I started my business in the 1980’s. I created some beauty products that I really believed in and still believe in today. Along with top chemists I created Sudden Youth, a non surgical face lift kit that tones, firms, tightens, lifts and has lasting results. I’ve built a worldwide organization of sales reps that wanted to be able to earn income based on their accomplishments rather than what someone was willing to pay them. Many of them became very high powered business people earning large incomes today based on the training and entrepreneurial skills we taught them over the years. I’ve used Sudden Youth since the first jar and I still use it today along with customers I’ve cultivated over the years. Ten facials for $95 is unquestionably the best skincare for the best price that I’ve ever known of. I now sell it online at leablack.com along with affordable handbags and fashion jewelry. And we export. It’s a
