Behind the DJ Decks: Unveiling Miami’s Electrifying Music Scene

By: Imani Ogden Miami, the Magic City, is renowned for its vibrant nightlife, stunning beaches, and rich cultural heritage. However, one aspect of Miami’s lifestyle truly sets it apart—its thriving music scene. As the electronic dance music (EDM) capital of the world, Miami transforms into a pulsating hub of creativity and self-expression during Miami Music Week (MMW). Every year, the city welcomes an influx of talented DJs, producers, and music enthusiasts from across the globe. The atmosphere is electric, with world-class venues, pool parties, and beach festivals showcasing the best of EDM, house, techno, and more. From the iconic Ultra Music Festival to intimate club nights, Miami’s music scene is a melting pot of sounds, styles, and cultures. But what makes Miami’s music scene so unique? Not just any DJ can take the stage here. The city’s discerning crowd and high-energy atmosphere demand a level of talent, creativity, and showmanship that only the best can deliver. As a result, Miami has become both a proving ground for up-and-coming artists and a benchmark for established acts. To gain deeper insight into the magic of Miami Music Week, we had the privilege of sitting down with three top Miami DJs: Rob Cappadonna, Mario Clavasquin, and Stilo Mancia. These talented artists shared their experiences, insights, and passions, giving us an exclusive glimpse into Miami’s electronic music scene. When asked what Miami Music Week means to them, each DJ spoke about the unparalleled energy and inspiration that fills the city. “It’s more than just an event; it’s a movement,” said Rob Cappadonna. “The connection between the crowd and the music is something you don’t experience anywhere else.” Stilo Mancia emphasized the importance of preparation: “Performing at MMW requires more than just a great setlist. You have to read the crowd, feel the vibe, and create a moment they’ll never forget.” Mario Clavasquin highlighted the global appeal of the week: “You get to share the stage with legendary DJs and meet fans from all over the world. It’s a melting pot of cultures, united by music.” Their stories, dedication, and devotion to their craft are a testament to the spirit of Miami Music Week. As the city comes alive with music, art, and culture, these DJs embody the essence of creativity and self-expression that defines Miami’s world-renowned music scene. As the sun sets over the Miami skyline, the DJ decks become a canvas for innovation, energy, and connection. Music acts as a universal language, uniting people from all walks of life in a shared experience of joy, excitement, and liberation. When the beats drop and the crowd erupts, it’s clear that Miami’s music scene is more than just a party—it’s a way of life. So, if you’re ready to experience the ultimate fusion of music, art, and culture, join the party in Miami. Step behind the DJ decks, let the music move you, and discover why Miami remains the undisputed capital of electronic music.

Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades is an ever-expanding collection of limited-edition, collectable furniture, which is inspired by the House’s historic Art of Travel, while reinterpreting its essential spirit. Driven by creativity, functionality and innovation for more than 160 years, Louis Vuitton has constantly anticipated fashion and kept pace with evolving lifestyles. This combination of the House’s savoir-faire and the talents of renowned designers has created inventive shapes, materials   and products – a tradition that continues with the Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades. The sofa features the same leather that is used by Louis Vuitton for its bags along with cushions made of textured fabrics and velvet in five different shades of blue and turquoise. Other Objets Nomades making their Design Miami/ 2017 debut include the pieces created by Atelier Oï such as the Swing Boat, the Belt Chair and the Spiral Lamp with its twisted straps of leather. Also presented are Patricia Urquiola’s Palaver Chair in a mix of wood and woven sheets of perforated leather, India Mahdavi’s Talisman Table in leather marquetry, and Marcel Wanders’ rocking Lune Chair and leather Diamond Screen. A selection of Objets Nomades will also be visible at the Louis Vuitton Miami Design District Store. Brianne Goutal Prepares to Compete at the Longines Global Champions Tour

Equestrian sports are the only Olympic sport where men and women are able to compete on equal terms against each other. The Longines Global Champions Tour at Miami Beach in April will bring together the Top 30 ranked show jumpers in the world to compete at a unique location, on the beach. Leading American female show jumper, Brianne Goutal has taken this sport to a new level with her drive, passion and dedication. Goutal remains the only rider to ever win all four major equitation finals documented in Animal Planet’s reality show, Horse Power: Road to the Maclay. The equitation finals included: the 2004 USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals-East, the 2004 Washington International Equitation Final, the 2005 USEF/Pessoa Hunter Seat Medal Final, and the 2005 ASPCA Maclay National Championship. The same year, she claimed individual and young rider gold at the North American Young Rider Championships. Goutal turned professional and balanced her riding commitments with classes at Brown University. She graduated in 2012 with a literature degree. Not only does Goutal have a rigorous six days a week riding schedule, but also she trains four other top riders. “I love teaching. I’m able to reap the benefits from the fact that it forces me to become more aware of my own riding,” states Brianne Goutal. “I enjoy working with my students and helping them work through issues more than commanding lessons.” Brianne has quite a full life out of the saddle. She splits her time living in New York City and Wellington, Florida taking time in between horse shows to travel. “Life is all about balance,” says Goutal. “Having the opportunity to break away from my daily routine and be able to enjoy time with my family and friends, is the best way to clear my head and prepare for the next show.” For more information on Brianne Goutal, click here

Art Deco Living & South Beach Urban Pedestrian Lifestyle Unite

Where else in the world can you find a single family home of contributing architectural significance in a quiet residential enclave yet right next to the fun of South Beach? The answer is nowhere! OPEN HOUSE Sunday, February, 28th 12-4pm Property Details: 1711 Michigan Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139 MLS # A10013457 3 Bedrooms / 3.5 Baths 2,267 SF Offered at $1,895,000 For more information visit http://bit.ly/1711MichiganAve-SoBe Take a step back in time in this authentic Mediterranean Art Deco home in the center of all that South Beach has to offer today. Located in the historic, tree lined Palm View residential neighborhood – an oasis just one block to Lincoln Road and within easy walking distance to the beach, New World symphony, movies and dynamic Sunset Harbour. This is a rare opportunity to lead an urban pedestrian lifestyle while enjoying the comforts and privacy of a single family home. The Palm View Historic District location is truly unique. The Palm View district is associated with the earliest pioneers of Miami Beach, Carl Fisher and John Collins. Fisher created the subdivision in 1920 and developed it with the intention of providing some of the finest private residences of the era. Collins was responsible for the oldest structure within this historic district, the Collins Canal, which enabled Collins to transport his produce from the groves to Biscayne Bay. Palm View is also associated with internationally recognized American artist, Henry Salem Hubbell, who resided in the area from 1926-1940. While Palm View is steeped in a wide array of historical significance, there is none more prominent than the rich display of architecture evident throughout the district. There are 10 architectural styles represented, ranging from Masonry Vernacular to Mediterranean Revival and Med/Deco Transitional to Streamline Moderne, then evolving into the Post WW II Modern styles. Mediterranean Revival is the style with the most significant concentration in the area as it was highly fashionable during the city’s booming land development period. Many master architects are represented including Schultze and Weaver, Pancoast, Hohauser, Schoeppl, Skinner and Robert E. Collins. Built in 1946, this meticulously preserved home embodies the optimism that was a profound part of the Art Deco period in Miami Beach. Enter the home through a charming rotunda foyer that flows into the ample living room with vaulted ceiling featuring original moldings and fireplace. The dining room showcases recessed lighting which was considered one of the most luxurious features available in a home at that time. Throughout the home are beautiful original Terrazzo floors and original wood flooring in the bedrooms. The bedrooms are very spacious with bay windows allowing for ample natural light and each includes a bathroom en suite. In the bathrooms are hand painted and signed original murals of native Florida wildlife creating a one-of-a-kind retreat within the home. The expansive kitchen with high ceilings has a pantry and closet for ample storage, and space for a breakfast table. The family room leads to a Florida room with access to a unique native garden with exotic fruit trees designed to attract birds and several varieties of butterflies. The garage has been converted to a studio with a bathroom, fashioning a private area for your guests. The property is zoned RM1 multi-family which permits an additional structure, if so desired.
