Pérez Art Museum Miami Hosts First Family Fundraiser, KIDS JAMM at PAMM

On Sunday, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) celebrated KIDS JAMM at PAMM, the museum’s first-ever family fundraiser, presented by Centner Academy. Benefiting the museum’s vital arts education programs, the sold-out event invited families to connect with the museum through music, dancing, and art-making activities with some of Miami’s best-known artists.  Co-chaired by Suzy Buckley Woodward, Jessica Plair Sirmans, and Alexa Wolman, the event kicked off with a lively drag queen story hour by Missy Meyakie LePaige, one of Miami’s favorite drag queens. Story hour continued throughout the afternoon with Miami personalities like former NFL player Brett Romberg and chef Lorena Garcia. The event also featured dancing and live music, including special performances by Miami City Ballet School and Ashlee Cramer Zumbini. Children and adults also enjoyed a variety of inclusive art-making activities that encouraged artistic expression, including postcard souvenirs with Eddie Arroyo, printmaking with Michele Oka Doner, a sculpture workshop with Jamilah Sabur, and a pottery throwdown with Kira Tippenhauer. Throughout the day, guests were able to refuel at a snack station by Constellation Culinary Group. All funds raised from the event support PAMM’s free access days and the PAMM Student Pass, which gives free access to PAMM for all Miami-Dade County Public Schools students. eMerge Yourself into the World of Technology

By Gisel Habibnejad Now in its third year, eMerge Americas is a two-day event hosting technological innovations through EXPO space experiences, networking interactions, and conferences. The EXPO floor included exhibitor booths, through which the latest innovations were displayed; a “Launchpad” of entrepreneurs who shared their experiences and inventions; a Hackathon where about 125 coders had 24 hours to decode complex challenges built by API sponsors for a chance to win more than $50,000 in cash and prizes; and a hiring fair. The summit talks incorporated various topics fit to inspire innovators of all journeys in technology. The Government Innovation Forum (eGOV) brought together leaders of government and business to discuss “how public-private partnerships leveraging disruptive technologies are transforming our communities” and to deliberate on transforming our communities into smart cities. Made up of over 100 startups from around the world, the eMerge Americas Startup Showcase provided a point for these companies to interact with hundreds of investors and partners. The Women, Innovation, and Technology Summit (WIT) is a one-day summit that united powerful women of the industry to inspire and motivate event goers by presenting leaders “who are bridging the gap between the creative and tech industries” and also featured a Technology and Innovation fashion show. Other conferences consisted of the Textpert Stage, which allowed visitors to engage with experts who discussed the latest innovations and trailblazing technologies. This year’s keynote speakers were comprised of General Colin L. Powell, Monica Lewinsky, Tony Hawk, Pitbull, Chairman of CNBC Mark Hoffman, Chairman of NBCUniversal International Group and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises Cesar Conde, Co-Founder of America Online Steve Case, CEO of AT&T Ralph de la Vega, Co-Founder of Netflix Marc Randolph, and many more. Of course, we can’t forget the VIP parties, live entertainment shows, and cocktail soirees. Each offered special ways to interact and network with peers who are involved and enjoy the same technological industry. These events were hosted at Lincoln Road, the Paris Theater in South Beach, and the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). eMerge Americas takes place in the growing tech community of Miami hosting industry leaders, government officials, and investors from North America, Latin America, and Europe. The year’s biggest B2B event of the Americas was aired nationwide courtesy of CNBC and Telemundo, and was also broadcasted live to other countries such as Europe, Africa, and Asia. Beachwalk Resort by Pininfarina

By Angela Betancourt Photography Courtesy of Beachwalk Resort This spring, Hallandale Beach was cast into the spotlight with the arrival of the stylish new Beachwalk Resort. The new hospitality gem is the first major development in several years and is being credited for spearheading resurgence in the city. Located at 2602 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd, the 33-story $150 million dollar condo-hotel property is the brainchild of Miami mega developers Jorge Pérez and The Related Group. The European-style resort is located right on the Intracoastal Waterway and boasts 300 family friendly suites, of which 216 of them are two bedroom suites that can be divided into separate rooms. Italian design company Pininfarina and architecture firm Cohen Freedman Encinosa, were tapped to bring this project to life. The results were interiors with Italian furnishings, floor to ceiling windows, fully equipped kitchens, and oversized balconies. Original works of art from the Collection of Jorge Pérez, patron of the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), can also be found in the hotel. Upscale amenities and sophisticated technology such as smart LED televisions, Wi-Fi, and high speed internet are some of the additional offerings. When it comes to activities and recreation, Beachwalk takes things very seriously. The hotel boasts a fitness center, an infinity edge pool overlooking the Intracoastal and complimentary bicycles for city touring. Beyond the hotel’s beauty, service, and amenities another part of the Beachwalk experience is exploring Hallandale Beach and all of the attractions surrounding the city. The hotel provides a convenient and complimentary, electric cart shuttle that transports guests to the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk, Gulfstream Park Racetrack and Casino, and Aventura Mall. For more relaxed fun in the sun, guests also have access to the resort’s Beach Club where they will receive complimentary towels, chairs, and umbrellas. With so much to do it’s not hard to work up an appetite and the Beachwalk has made sure to give guests savory dining choices. The Beachwalk Bistro & Market, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, is one of several feasting options. At this particular eatery, menu items include Cumin Dusted Chicken Burger with Anaheim chili, jack cheese and cilantro mayo on toasted whole wheat bun; and Green Chili Seafood Enchiladas served with Roasted Corn and Black Beans Salsa. The resort’s Beachwalk Bar features crafted cocktails and locally brewed beers among other libations. The Pool Grill offers guests perfect poolside treats including grilled skewers such as their Chorizo and Picked Jalapeno Skewers with an avocado ginger cream and many other savory options. When time is of the essence, the resort’s Marketplace within the Beachwalk Bistro, prepares delicious quick grab and go options throughout the day. If cooking is your preference, Beachwalk provides a grocery delivery service. Per the guest’srequest, the hotel will go grocery shopping for you (at guest expense) and deliver the items to your kitchen before you arrive. To ensure guest satisfaction and smooth hotel operations, The Related Group partnered with Gemstones Hotels & Resorts, a full-service hotel management company based in Park City, Utah to oversee the property. Gemstone is calling it “your suburban utopia” but for the city, Beachwalk is so much more; it’s the start of a new Hallandale Beach. Beachwalk Resort is located at 2602 E Hallandale Beach Blvd, Hallandale Beach, FL 33009 For more information or to make reservations, please visit www.BeachwalkResortFL.com Click here to view this post in the July/August digital issue.
