Louis Amanti: Rising Star

Photography Courtesy of AR Entertainment Louis Amanti has mastered the art of song renditions with over 450 songs and 500 shows. The humbled South Florida native hit 1 million views on YouTube just last year with his outstanding vocals on Nat King Cole’s “L.O.V.E.” Being a 24-year-old in a genre made popular by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, and Dean Martin makes this rising star stand out amongst this generation. This fall, he will release his first album with Grammy Award winning songwriter Rudy Perez—there’s no telling the amount of success Louis will reach before he reaches 25. MSM: Tell us how your passion for the classic songs from the famous crooners such as Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole, came about at such a young age? Louis Amanti: You know that’s a question I get asked a lot, it’s funny because they tell me that when I was a little kid coming out of the hospital the day I was born “Frank Sinatra Live at the Sands” was playing in the car on the way back home. So I kinda feel like it was meant for me to sing since the beginning. With lots of credit to my grandparents, for teaching me all the great songs and artists of the great 20th century. MSM: At what age did you start singing and performing? LA: I can’t remember exactly when I started singing because the journey goes way back, but I do remember that I couldn’t stop singing at home, during baseball practices, in class and of course in the shower. During middle school at the end of the year awards, my teachers gave me an award for best singer and when I walked to pick up my award up on stage they made me sing in front of all the students and parents and the first song I ever sang in public was “Strangers In The Night,” and that’s where the bug bit me. MSM: You are just 24 years old, people your age like hip hop, dance, pop, techno, rock, music…how does it differ with you? Do you enjoy performing and listening to other types of music? LA: Absolutely, I love music that is great. Doesn’t matter if it’s hip hop or rock or EDM. Music is music and if you add quality and love to what you’re doing only greatness can come out of it. Having said that I am attracted to romantic music and there’s nothing more that I enjoy than beautiful melodies and lyrics. MSM: You have a song on YouTube, Nat King Cole’s “L.O.V.E.” which has gotten over 1 million views, tell us about why you recorded this and when? LA: I recorded “L.O.V.E.” two days before Valentine’s Day. I grew up listening to Nat and I always thought the way he would deliver a lyric and his phrasing was personal. Growing up “L.O.V.E.” was that one song I would think of as the theme song for Valentine’s Day. I recorded the song and made a nice little quick video the same day and posted it the day before Feb 14th. I am truly honored and blessed that it has touched so many people around the world. MSM: You look like a Hollywood heartthrob, will Louis Amanti get the acting bug? LA: You never know. My life is music, but I would not mind having the possibility of pursuing that one day. MSM: What’s next for Louis Amanti? LA: There’s a lot of great plans coming up. God has been good to me and I am lucky to be able to do what I love for a living. I expect to keep singing and giving the best of me for a long time. For more information, please visit www.louisamanti.com To watch Louis’ rendition of Nat King Cole’s “L.O.V.E.”, click here

LA MUSA Awards Induction Gala 2015

CELEBRATING THE GREATEST LATIN SONGWRITERS & COMPOSERS By Gisel Habibnejad Photography Courtesy of AR ENTERTAINMENT & LSHOF On October 18, 2012 history was made when the Nominating Committee and Board of Directors had their first meeting to establish The Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame. “I was driven by my passion to honor the greatest Latin Songwriters of all time,” shares Rudy Peréz, LSHOF Co-Founder and President, who joined forces with Desmond Child, LSHOF Co-Founder and Chairman, to create the organization. With the celebration of the musical accomplishments of Spanish and Portuguese icons as its driving force, these music titans will never be forgotten. In efforts to support and educate those aspiring to pursue a career in the music world, workshops, showcases, and scholarships are put into the hands of the next musically inclined generation. “Our immediate goals are to continue inspiring new generations of songwriters through our Masterclass In The Round series and ongoing digital initiatives,” says Peréz. Once a year, The Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame committee comes together to celebrate inductees and honorees with LA MUSA Awards Induction Gala. Special performances by artists currently making waves and presenters honoring their peers take place throughout the night. While the night is full of laughs and tears, the induction process is hard work. Involving singers, producers, songwriters, recording engineers, and performing rights organization representatives, the awards aren’t just handed to anyone. Some of the requirements include having their first big hit at least 20 years prior. The amount of significant influence they’ve had on other artists is also taken into consideration. The award trophy itself has a beautiful story behind it. The design was inspired by cofounder, Desmond Child’s mother in order to preserve her legacy and symbolize the meaning of the award. “In 2012 after my mother, the Cuban poet and songwriter Elena Casals passed away. I felt a strong need to create a legacy in her honor that would educate, preserve, honor and celebrate the lives and music of the world’s greatest Latin music songwriters and composers and encourage future generations of music creators in every genre,” recalls Child. Of course, none of this would be possible without the founders. Rudy Peréz, LSHOF Co-Founder and President, has made an impact in the music industry for the last 30 years writing about 300 #1 hit songs and being pronounced “Producer of the Decade” by Billboard Magazine with five Grammy wins. Fellow musical veteran of 40 years, LSHOF Co-Founder and Chairman, Desmond Child has sold 300 million albums worldwide and has worked with artists such as Bon Jovi, Katy Perry, and Aerosmith. In addition to honoring the biggest musical influences in the industry, they make it a priority to preserve an endless appreciation to songwriters who often become the unsung heroes of the music business. “We stand with them in solidarity so they will be able to make careers out of what they do best, which is to write the classic songs that we’ll be honoring at the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame far into the future,” declares Child. The Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame may be young, but the future only looks brighter with a museum in Miami and a traveling exhibition currently in the works. “We are in the planning stages of creating an interactive Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame Museum Experience that will be a must see tourist attraction in Miami,” reveals Peréz. For now, we can celebrate Latin music and its pioneers through LA MUSA Awards Induction Gala which will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 7pm at The Fillmore Miami Beach Jackie Gleason Theatre. “This year we have many surprises in store, you will see unique performances that you’ll never see anywhere else, as well as a stellar line up of iconic legends and contemporary superstars all accompanied by the great La Musa Orchestra conducted by Maestro Eduardo Marturet of the Miami Symphony Orchestra,” shares Peréz. The upscale event will induct Hector Ochoa Cardenas, Emilio Estefan, Myriam Hernadez, Gustavo Santaolalla, Alvaro Torres, and Diego Torres. The 2015 Honorees include Beto Cuevas, Fonseca, Alejandra Guzman, Quincy Jones, and Rita Moreno.  LA MUSA Awards Induction Gala will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2015 For more information, please visit www.latinsonghall.com Click here to view this post in the September/October 2015 digital issue Click here to view the online issue

The missing link in music: The IDA Program

Photo courtesy of IDA Program By Sandra Mateu “When preparation and opportunity collide success happens,” said Award Winning Producer Rudy Perez.  An initiative born during a regular day of auditions from the minds of music legends Rudy Perez and David Frangioni. In a time where independent artists are taking the reins of their careers using multiple platforms and innumerable tools available by current technology. In a label-less world where there is a big gap of professional guidance and longtime experience. The final moment of realization took place and the missing link of today’s music industry came to life: The IDA Program (Inspire & Develop Artists Educational Program). “Rudy and I have joined forces to develop the artists of tomorrow. It’s truly profound to me how passionate and visionary Rudy Perez really is as a producer, songwriter and now in the development of artists. It’s inspiring to see someone of his magnitude that nurturing to the world,” said David Frangioni. IDA is a top notch package of everything an artist needs to become successful in the industry. With the invaluable guidance of professionals of the caliber of Billboard Magazine’s 2010 “Producer of the Decade” Rudy Perez, 3 year vocal coach of “The X Factor” TV show Mark Hudson, the Pioneer in music technology David Frangioni and Multi-Grammy winner Jon Secada. It includes an incredible curriculum of activities such as songwriting, improvement of your craft, music production, vocal coaching, stage performance, choreography, refining your image and even personal studio sessions. This program was born July 1st, 2012. It just finished its first session and it is in the works of becoming the next big reality show. The pilot took place in Miami Beach with an amazing group of 16 artists that took the journey of a lifetime in a boot camp where coaching is a non-stop process. “Artist development has been declining and no one is really doing anything for these talented kids,” Rudy Perez. This educational package offers top of the line mentors that are vital to a musician’s career. “Imagine having access to people of this quality. It is truly invaluable,” David Frangioni. “We had a goal and it turned out to be much bigger and much more challenging …to transform a becoming artist to their highest level in 7 days. These kids found talent they were not even aware of!” Rudy Perez. Every member of IDA comes out of the program with a recorded song produced and co-written by an elite team of leaders. “This is a tremendous opportunity. This opens a lot of doors. Imagine showing up with a great song written by Mark Hudson to an audition,” Rudy Perez. “If you are prepared, when an opportunity like IDA comes around, success is not that far away,” Rudy Perez.
